Pokémon Let’s Go: How to Wake Snorlax & Get the Poké Flute

Players in Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let’s Go Eevee! will encounter plenty of challenges while exploring the Kanto region, including encounters with Team Rocket, battles with gym leaders, and catching shiny Pokémon. One obstacle standing (or lying) in the way of the player’s journey is a sleeping Pokémon… Snorlax.

Last week saw the release of the Pokémon franchise’s first main entry on a home console. Pokemon’s Let Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon Let’s Go Eevee! for the Nintendo Switch sends players back to the Kanto region from the first three Pokémon games: Red, Blue, and Yellow. The Kanto region features only the original 151 Pokémon and one new Pokémon: Meltan. The new games are essentially a remake of Yellow where the protagonist is accompanied by a Pokémon companion. In this case, the trainer is joined by either Pikachu or Eevee. For the first time in the Pokémon series, the entire game can be experienced by two players in co-op mode.

After heading east from Vermillion City in Pokemon: Let’s Go, players will come across a bridge blocked by a sleeping Snorlax. Snorlax is different from other wild Pokémon, which means it’s impossible to initiate a battle with him. There isn’t a way to get around him, so he’ll have to be woken up. To advance through the city, you will have to go through a series of steps in an effort to wake Snorlax from his nap. Like previous games where you have to get past a sleeping Pokémon, you’ll need the Poké Flute.

The first step is to acquire the Silph Scope, which can be obtained by defeating the boss at Team Rocket’s secret hideout in the Celedon City Game Corner. With the Silph Scope, you’ll be able to see the hidden Ghost Pokémon in the Pokémon Tower in Lavender Town. After climbing to the top floor, you’ll find Mr. Fuji, who’s a prisoner of Team Rocket. Rescue Mr. Fuji and follow him back to his home where he will reward you with the Poké Flute.

Return to the sleeping Snorlax, play the flute, and wait for Snorlax to wake up. Once he’s awake, he’ll move out of the way and the path ahead will finally be clear. The flute will have some uses later around in the game, but its most important role is waking up Snorlax. This is one of those instances that Pokémon fans are more than familiar with, but, sometimes, waking up Snorlax can be a chore – and this guide should be able to help players overcome this obstacale.
