One of the new Pokémon added in to Pokémon Snap is Snorlax, the sleeping Pokémon. When New Pokémon Snap was released in early 2021, fans new and old were excited to try out another installment of the photography spinoff, and the Lental region did not disappoint. What many players didn’t expect was that the game would receive a free content update several months later that included three brand new courses in Pokemon Snap to try out.

The free DLC was a pleasant surprise for those who own the game, and a great reason to revisit it. Snorlax is a Normal-type introduced during the original games, it’s known for blocking paths with its giant body. While it can be relatively easy to see in the new course, getting up close for a perfect shot is a little tricky without knowing where to go. This guide will help players find out how to get better shots of Snorlax.

Finding Snorlax in New Pokémon Snap’s Secret Side Path

After updating the game that includes the new Pokémon Snap content, players can access the area Snorlax is located in. To enter it, head to Florio Nature Park, the first research course in Pokémon Snap, and look out for the lake about midway through. Before passing over the bridge, use the scan tool with the X button to reveal the shrinking location, which is a tree on the left side of the course.

Once shrunk down and inside the secret passage, players will be able to get a glimpse of Snorlax through a crack in the wall on the left side of the course. However, it’s possible to get much closer than that, and get an even higher-scoring photo. Upon completing the new path for the first time, players will have the option to access the shrinking route straight from the map. This time, instead of going straight through, use the scan tool after the Dodrio runs away early on in the course.

Another route will appear on the left side beyond the tall grass, which will take Pokémon Snap photographers straight to Snorlax if they select it. There’s no clear indication that this optional route exists other than the player’s own experimentation. The hidden route goes directly over the snoring beast, allowing players to get plenty of good camera shots of it. There are a few ways it can be interacted with, such as shooting an apple into its open mouth, or waking it up by playing a song with the music player, just like in the original games.
