Pokémon HOME‘s next update in June will give Gigantamax Squirtle and Bulbasaur as mystery gifts for Pokémon Sword and Shield. Gigantamax Squirtle and Bulbasaur debuted in the Isle of Armor DLC for Pokémon Sword and Shield.

The base game of Pokémon Sword and Shield initially had gigantamax Charizard as the partner Pokémon of champion Leon. Gigantimax Charizard was the last and strongest Pokémon Leon used in battle, and after beating him the player would be able to pick up a free Charmander that had the ability to gigantamax. However, Bulbasaur and Squirtle weren’t featured in the base game, as they were part of the group of Pokémon that initially got cut from the game. It wasn’t until the Isle of Armor DLC debuted that players were able to choose between a gigantamax Bulbasaur or Squirtle as a gift through the story.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Pokémon website has announced that Pokémon HOME will be receiving an update in June that will have various new features. These include the catch calendar feature, which allows users to sort Pokémon by the date they were caught. It will also let fans view Pokémon from new angles. Along with these new features, gigantamax Bulbasaur and Squirtle will be debuted in both Pokémon HOME and Pokémon Sword & Shield, according to the announcement, as a downloadable mystery gift.

There have been a variety of other unique mystery gifts that Pokémon HOME has given since its release. This includes a level 100 gigantamax Melmetal, which is obtainable when transferring any Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME. But perhaps the most valuable gift of all that can be currently obtained from the application is a shiny Magearna, which is colored just like a Pokéball. This can only be obtained from completing the national Pokédex, which is a hefty feat to pull off. But the reward is very much worth it for the value it has.

Being able to obtain both gigantamax Bulbasaur and Squirtle as a free gift is nice way to commemorate this new update for Pokémon HOME. But beyond that, it also makes up for not being able to choose the other Kanto starter when players have the chance in the Isle of Armor, similar to Pokémon HOME giving all three Galarian starters with their hidden abilities as a gift. While the exact date of the update is unknown, it won’t be long until players are able to receive these free Kanto starters in their copies of Pokémon Sword & Shield.
