Pokémon Sword & Shield: How To Claim Ash’s Lucario

The final member of the team Ash is using in the Pokémonanime has made its way into the games, as Ash’s Lucario is now available in Pokémon Sword & Shield. Lucario debuted in Gen 4, but it’s not surprising that one is part of Ash’s current team in the anime, as Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl were released in 2021, which meant that Sinnoh Pokémon were receiving a franchise-wide push.

There’s still a good chance that Lucario could have made its way onto Ash’s team, even without PokémonBrilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, as it’s one of the most popular Pokémon of all time. Lucario consistently places in the top ten of most popular Pokémon lists and was chosen to be the Gen 4 representative in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, appearing in every Super Smash Bros. game ever since. The reasons Lucario is so loved is due to its cool design, the fact that it had a starring role in one of the Pokémon movies, and is consistently strong in battle across all forms of Pokémon media.

The Pokémon Company has been running a Mystery Gift promotion in Pokémon Sword and Shield, which gives the members of Ash’s current team away as free downloads. The most recent member of Ash’s team to be added was Ash’s Sirfetch’d in Pokémon Sword and Shield, which will be available to download until September 22. The final member of the team is now available, as Ash’s Lucario can be downloaded into one of the Gen 8 games.

Ash’s Lucario Is Now Available In Pokémon Sword & Shield

As was the case with all of the other members of Ash’s team, the Lucario needs to be downloaded as a Mystery Gift. In order to do this, the player needs to boot up their copy of Pokémon Sword or Pokémon Shield, load up their save file, go to the Mystery Gift menu, select “Get with code/password” and input HAD0UW0CATCH. If the code is inputted correctly, then the Lucario should appear in a vacant slot in the player’s active party, or it will be sent to a spare slot in the box. This giveaway will likely be one of Pokémon Sword and Shield‘s last Mystery Gift events, as Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are launching in November.

Ash’s Lucario is a level 80 Fighting/Steel-type Pokémon. It has the Inner Focus Ability and it knows Aura Sphere, Bullet Punch, Reversal, and Steel Beam. This Lucario is going to have an important role in the Pokémon anime, as Ash is currently fighting in the ultimate competition, taking on the likes of Cynthia, Champion of the Sinnoh region in battle. The players who have downloaded Ash’s team in Pokémon Sword and Shield should be able to easily conquer the Galar league with his team, so Ash has a shot at least. If the players are able to move the members of Ash’s team into Pokémon Home and transfer them into Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in November, then the Paldea region should pose no threat at all.
