Umbreon is a fan favorite Pokemon that is available for capture in Pokemon Sword & Shield. This guide will help players locate it in the Galar Region. Pokemon Sword & Shield’s biggest change from previous titles is its inclusion of the wild area. In the wild area, Pokemon will spawn in real-time rather than running into them in the grass. Players can see these Pokemon interacting with their environments and the wild area itself contains a healthy mix or older and newer Pokemon. Players can find fan favorites like Gyarados and Toxel while in the wild area. Fortunately, Umbreon can be found in the wild area as well. This guide will help players locate it.

Umbreon is one of 8 different evolutions for Eevee, a Pokemon introduced back in the first generation. With Pokemon Red and Blue, players could select between 3 different choices for evolving Eevee, Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Flareon. As the generations went on, more Eeveelutions were introduced into the series. Umbreon and Espeon were introduced in the second generation. Leafeon and Glaceon made their debut in the fourth generation. Lastly, Sylveon appeared in the sixth generation, along with the new fairy typing for Pokemon. Here’s how players can capture Umbreon in the wild area.

Umbreon’s Location in Pokemon Sword & Shield

Typically, players can evolve and Eevee by maxing out its friendship and leveling up at night to get Umbreon. Fortunately, players can find every Eeveelution in the game in their final forms. To capture an Umbreon, the player will need to have the bike upgrade that allows the player to ride on the water. Once the player has this, head over to the Lake of Outrage in the wild area. Umbreon will appear on the other side of the lake when there is a sandstorm in the game. Players can manipulate the weather by changing the date in the Nintendo Switch’s settings. Umbreon will eventually appear in the overworld to capture in battle. It may be level 60, so be careful when challenging it.

Pokemon Sword & Shield made it the easiest to capture fully evolved Pokemon. Fully evolved monsters like Sylveon or Flygon can be found wandering the wild area. Normally, players would need to capture the pre-evolved forms and raise it to get the final evolution entry in the Pokedex. This saves trainers hundreds of hours for completing the dex. An upcoming Pokemon Sword & Shield DLC is releasing this June, providing new story elements and new Pokemon to capture. The first part is this June while the second releases in the Fall. This is another huge reason to return back to the Galar region for more Pokemon fun.

Pokemon Sword & Shield is available now on the Nintendo Switch.
