Pokémon: Top 10 Strongest Mythical Pokémon, Ranked

Throughout the entire Pokémon universe, there is a wide variety of all types of Pokémon from starters to legendary, the adventure seems to be continuous. In each generation, there are a select few that are ranked as Mythical. Sadly, the recently released Pokémon Legends Arceus didn’t add to their legions as the game is a prequel to Generation 4, but that doesn’t mean players can’t see some of the older Mythicals wandering around the open world.

Although they may be extremely hard to find, these Mythical Pokémon are real and are often incredibly strong. There are just under two dozen legendary Pokémon, but these are the ten strongest of the bunch.

10 Volcanion

Being the only Pokémon to have the combination of fire and water, Volcanion stands out not only among the Mythical Pokémon but also among all other Pokémon. One of the more notable features of Volcanion is its ability to create steam. With both its fire and water abilities, it can create mass amounts of steam that not only cloud its location from potential predators but is said to be able to create steam that is so highly pressurized that it can move actual landmasses like hills and mountains.

That being said, Volcanion can run out of water, making its ability to create steam come to a stop, and the only way for it to continue creating steam is to find a body of water where it can replenish its water intake. Its larger size and quadrupedal stance also give it an advantage when attacking smaller Pokémon.

9 Diancie

At first glance, Diancie may look like a gentle and sweet Mythical Pokémon with its little dress and diamond crown, but as a combination of rock type and fairy type, they have quite the array of strong moves. This little one is one Mythical Pokémon with the best lore. Diancie is the only Mythical Pokémon that is capable of Mega Evolution.

Mega Diancie has some of the highest stats of most Mega Evolutions giving trainers the incentive to catch Diancie mostly to be able to Mega evolve it. The diamond exterior also helps protect it better from physical attacks since the exterior is stronger.

8 Victini

Another smaller Mythical Pokémon is Victini. Although it may be small and a little timid, it is extremely powerful in many different ways. For one, if a trainer becomes friends with it, Victini is guaranteed to bring victory to that trainer in battle, hence its nickname as the “Victory Pokémon”. This Mythical Pokémon can also fly and turn invisible making it harder to see to catch and attack.

Victini’s unique fire and psychic type make it fairly strong, just in general, against most other types, and if trained correctly once caught, its HP can reach over 400. It may be small, making larger Pokémon have the advantage, but the energy that it can store, as well as its passion to fight for those it cares about makes it a very strong Mythical Pokémon.

7 Jirachi

Also known as the ‘Wish Pokémon’, Jirachi makes its debut appearance among the third generation of Pokémon. It is extremely rare solely because of the fact that it hibernates for thousands of years at a time, only to be awake for about a week. During this short period of being awake, it uses its great power to grant three wishes (one for each teal tag it has).

Being able to grant wishes makes it very powerful, but one move in particular that it tends to use during battle is also very powerful – Doom Desire. This move always hits and causes a ton of damage to its opponent. Being the only Pokémon that can learn this move, as well as being fairly resistant to at least half of all Pokémon types, makes Jirachi one of the strongest Pokémon even without evolving.

6 Darkrai

Darkrai is special in the fact that it can tamper with dreams, and often provides nightmares to its opponents. The ability to create nightmares, however, is more of a defense mechanism than a personal attack, but it, unfortunately, can only be thwarted off when a lunar feather from Cresslia is put into play. Darkrai also has the ability to turn into a shadow and disappear from any opponent, Pokémon or human, making it easy for it to slip past anyone and everyone.

On top of being able to create nightmares, and turn into a shadow, Darkrai also has the ability to speak with humans. It may not be perfect, but Darkrai can speak enough for them to get a basic understanding, and for humans to be able to communicate back. This gives Darkrai an edge of strength that other Mythical Pokémon don’t have.

5 Meltan/Melmetal

As one of the few Mythical Pokémon that actually evolves, Meltan can grow to be very powerful and strong. It is one of the best Mythical Pokémon of its generation. Meltan is not only hard to find but also hard to defeat once found.

Its liquid metal form combined with the hex nuts provides it with some flexibility but also helps it have the strongest punch of any Pokémon. Melmetal is also significantly more powerful than Meltan due to the fact that Meltan evolves by being the strongest one in a group of Meltans and ends up absorbing the other ones to become Melmetal.

4 Celebi

With many nicknames like ‘Time Travel Pokémon’ and the ‘Voice of the Forest’, Celebi proves to have many very strong powers. Celebi is able to exist and travel through time.  This Pokémon is also able to heal wounds and make nature thrive and flourish wherever it shows up.

Seeing as plants are so important to all parts of the Pokémon universe, both for food and just for other normal purposes, helping nature thrive and restoring balance can be essential in some places. In battle, it is weak to quite a few types of Pokémon, but overall its ability to time travel, and heal things is what makes it so strong.

3 Deoxys

Deoxys does not evolve, but it does have four different forms that it can turn into – Normal, Speed, Attack, and Defense. Although it doesn’t have as many alternate forms as other Pokémon, each Forme allows it to thrive in different parts of battles giving Deoxys different abilities, making it incredibly strong, and difficult to defeat. Deoxys is very intelligent, so much so, that in the anime and manga it can be seen making clones of itself.

It also has psychokinetic powers, shoots very powerful laser beams, and has the ability to heal itself, which, yet again, makes it extremely hard to defeat. It comes from space and its forms, psychic abilities, and overall strength make it one of the strongest Mythical Pokémon.

2 Arceus

Arceus is rumored to be the Pokémon that created the entire Pokémon universe, and is often referred to as ‘The Orginal One’. It is said to have abilities to bring back things it destroyed, stop time, and can even speak to humans, just to name a few of its many powers.

Arceus is also known to travel through time, and can even change its type with the use of Plates or Z-Crystals, in order to best handle a situation. Besides all of its natural powers, Arceus has some of the best stats of all the Pokémon, so those combined with its size make it one of the strongest Mythical Pokémon of all time.

1 Mew

What makes Mew stand out from other Mythical Pokémon is the fact that it is said to contain DNA that is in every Pokémon. With this special biology, it is able to learn basically every Technical Machine (TM), Hidden Machine (HM), Technical Record (TR), and Move Tutor.

Being able to learn and use any attack allows it to be able to be strong against many different types of Pokémon and makes it able to learn some of the strongest moves there are, ultimately making Mew, arguably, the strongest Mythical Pokémon there is. Mew also has the ability to fly, travel through water, and can make itself invisible, as if being able to learn every move isn’t enough.
