A talented LEGO and Pokémon fan has dedicated their YouTube channel to creating brick versions of classic pocket monsters, even revealing how other LEGO enthusiasts can build their own Shiny Charizard. While Nintendo has partnered with LEGO for the release of sets based on the likes of Super Mario and even a LEGO NES console build, there’s yet to be any official Pokémon LEGO released – much to the chagrin of many.

LEGO has launched a range of video game-themed sets over the years, including its popular Minecraft range, and the aforementioned Super Mario sets. While plenty of fans have pitched their own Nintendo-themed sets, including ideas based on The Legend of Zelda and Kirby, official sets based on Nintendo IP are few and far between. This hasn’t stopped fans hoping that franchises like Pokémon could one day get The LEGO Group’s approval though, especially with the company recently revealing other video game-inspired LEGO sets including Horizon Forbidden West, and even rumors of Uncharted LEGO.

YouTuber Brickmill Studios seemingly isn’t too disheartened by a lack of official Pokémon LEGO, as they’ve created thorough and easy-to-follow tutorials for fans to make their favorite Pokémon – including Shiny Charizard – at home. The designer reveals which bricks are needed to build their impressive Pokémon-inspired LEGO creations, and their recent Shiny Charizard build looks professional enough to be official. LEGO fans who’ve been lamenting a lack of Pokémon sets might find the channel helpful in creating their own ‘mons, with previous videos from the YouTuber also revealing how to build Hisuian Growlithe, Mewtwo, Torterra, and more.

As rare variants of their normal counterparts, Shiny Pokémon are highly sought-after across the games, which likely prompted Brickmill Studios to replicate a Shiny Charizard using LEGO. The creation is highly detailed, fully reimagining not only Charizard’s large wings and flaming tail, but also its intimidating expression, complete with sharp teeth and claws. The benefit of following a non-official MOC LEGO creation is that those attempting to recreate the design at home can add their own spin on the build, creating their dream pocket monster with a little imagination and the right guidance.

Pokémon has become one of the biggest franchises in the world, and the fact the series hasn’t yet received an official LEGO line is perhaps surprising. While it’s very possible that Nintendo and LEGO already have plans for such a set, perhaps in time to celebrate the upcoming release of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, at least devoted Pokémon and LEGO fans can use tutorials like Brickmills Studios’ to create their own Charizards (and more) at home.
