Dataminers have uncovered the next set of characters believed to be coming to Pokémon Unite, including Sylveon and Blissey. Pokémon Unite is a free-to-play MOBA featuring various pocket monsters from the franchise, and the game’s ever-evolving nature means even more beloved characters can make an appearance in the future.

Pokémon Unite has seen mixed reception from players since its release in July. While many are enjoying the more relaxed spin on the typical multiplayer online battle arena genre, others have taken issue with the game’s microtransactions. Pokémon Unite has been accused of being pay-to-win, with a heavy focus on optional add-ons which can distort the game’s natural balance. Despite controversies, the game has been a hit on Nintendo Switch, and Pokémon Unite will come to mobile devices with crossplay very soon.

Pokémon leaker Eclipse has revealed some of the new characters expected to be added to the Pokémon Unite roster in the future (via Dexerto). Uncovered from a datamine, Eclipse has shared that Blissey, Blastoise, Sylveon, and Greedent will all be playable Pokémon in the game, with their movesets also revealed in the leak. Meanwhile, dataminers have also uncovered a list of pocket monsters without movesets, which could mean they won’t be playable, or that they haven’t yet been determined. The list of named characters without movesets is as follows:

  • Nidoking
  • Venonat
  • Tauros
  • Toxicroak
  • Carnivine
  • Joltik
  • Galvantula
  • Aegislash
  • Toxapex
  • Stufful
  • Pyukumuku
  • Articuno
  • Jirachi
  • Victini
  • Xerneas

While most of the datamined Pokémon additions haven’t yet been confirmed by developer TiMi Studio Group, previous Pokémon Unite datamines have proven to be accurate. The game currently has a roster of 21 characters, with various roles including Supporter, All-Rounder, Attacker, and Defender. While the list is varied, 21 is a small number considering how many hundreds of  Pokémon exist, with countless options for the developer to choose from. It’s worth noting that datamined content can include scrapped ideas, which means not all Pokémon on the list may make it into the game in the future. However, it seems those who already have movesets – Blissey, Sylveon, and Greedent – are likely to be coming soon.

Blastoise has already been confirmed as a playable fighter for Pokémon Unite, though a release date for the character has not yet been revealed. Shortly after the game’s launch, the developer announced that both Blastoise and Gardevoir would be coming to Unite, with the latter being added just days after. Blastoise is expected in Pokémon Unite sometime this month, ahead of the release of the mobile version of the game in September.
