Despite the backlash against Porsha Williams, Porsha’s Family Matters scored high ratings that pummeled over The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. All of the drama on Porsha’s solo spin-off debut paid off when it came to viewership. With Porsha’s show airing on the same night as RHOSLC, fans enjoyed two hours of back-to-back spectacle. But despite having a cast full of controversial characters, Porsha’s family drama was enough to bring in more viewers than the Utah housewives.

Porsha hasn’t even promoted the season finale of her seven-episode spin-off but that hasn’t stopped all the public scrutiny. The Pursuit of Porsha author has been under fire for her behavior towards her family and extended family on a show that was supposed to be about bringing family together. With Porsha getting engaged to Simon Guobadia just one month into their relationship, she attempted to unite her new blended family ahead of wedding planning. But things didn’t go as planned. Between the quarrels between her family members and ex-fiancé Dennis McKinley, Porsha ended up becoming the villain on her own show.

However, the negative criticism appears to be working in Porsha’s favor. New viewership numbers show that Porsha’s spin-off beat out the viewership of RHOSLC. Ratings shared by TV Deets show that the Housewives have been bringing in around 700,000 viewers each week while during some weeks, Porsha’s spin-off brought in more viewers. The slight increase in viewership could be due to all of the showdowns taking place on Porsha’s show. Fans watched as Porsha’s two cousins Storm and Lundi went at it. Porsha and Dennis continued to fight on the show with Porsha even physically attacking him during the family retreat in Mexico.

On the season finale, Porsha brought Lundi to tears after storming off due to her upset over their conversation. Porsha followed that heated exchange by having another one with Dennis in a restaurant. Fans were turned off by Porsha’s behavior and lack of accountability and let her know on social media. Porsha’s silence on her show’s season finale further hints at her own disappointment with her portrayal.  But considering the high viewership, producers are most likely open to having another season.

There is enough drama to carry over into a season 2. With Porsha and Dennis sharing their daughter Pilar Jhena, the former couple will have to find common ground in order to co-parent. If Porsha’s Family Matters does return, viewers will be tuned in and ready to judge. Porsha might even be able to beat out The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City again. That is, unless she opts out of returning due to her upset with production.
