From the beginning, Power was often compared to The Wire with their set up. Ghost wanted out the drug business to run something legit, similar to Stringer Bell. However, his partner Tommy Egan could not abandon the street life much like Avon Barksdale. For Power, the struggle was always there and that’s what made it so great.

The storyline was done before but the breakdown of the characters in which the writers mixed business with their personal goals and demons added a great dimension to the show. In Power, there were no saints. No matter your favorite character, it always felt like viewers were rooting for some form of evil.

10 Tariq St. Patrick

Easily the most hated character on Power. Lying just became a thing of the norm for Tariq. The secrets he kept caused harm to so many around him and these were the reasons he had such a hatred for his father. He put his twin sister in a situation she should not have been in that resulted in the loss of her life.

Tariq has done possibly the most lying on the show and he’s the one who has walked out virtually unscathed. The issue that most viewers had ith Tariq was his ability to fly off the handle at his parents as if he’s not a child.

9 Tasha St. Patrick

Tasha wanted her husband to remain in the game. A mother of three, Tasha was and is all about the money. James wanted a simpler life and Tasha was against it. Instead of getting a second chance to change things, she dragged her son into the same life James was trying to keep him away from. Her hate for James caused more issues for the family and herself.

Tasha dragged men into the fold and ultimately got them killed. She has shown no remorse which makes her very dangerous when her back is against the wall.

8 Kanan

Kanan was released from prison with two goals. One was to take over and the other was seeking revenge on Ghost. In a sense, he accomplished both but at a hefty price. Kanan was what Tommy and Ghost were before looking to go legit. He embodied everything the streets stood for and cared for nothing but himself in the process.

Kanan was more than evil. He knew the consequences of his actions and just didn’t care. He took Tariq under his wings knowing what the results could lead to.

7 Dre

Dre was brought in to spy on Ghost for Kanan. But along the lines, he grew to respect Ghost but also devised a plan of his own to get on top. Viewers can look backstabbing up in the dictionary and there would be a picture of Dre there. His reason for doing everything was the safety of his daughter but even that was a lie.

Dre was willing to take everyone down as long as he was the last man standing. His soft spot was Tariq. In the end, Dre got exactly what he deserved and then some.

6 Rashad Tate

Was there really a need to bring politics into Power? Adding Rashad Tate to the storyline appeared to be a great idea. James St. Patrick was looking to expand beyond the street and club life. Tate was the opposition who did not play fair. But James was caught off guard as he thought like a civilian and not a political figure until it was too late.

Tate may have not played fair but he did what most politicians do. He was not about to lose his grip on becoming Governor. He wanted James out of his way for good.

5 Cooper Saxe

Saxe never intended to be dirty but it was the cards he was dealt and how he played his hand. Saxe wanted to take down James St. Patrick so bad, that he often went against the grain of his own peers. By doing so, he put those same peers in danger which resulted in a few deaths. For Saxe, it was all about job placement. He wanted the big office and all the accolades that went with it.

The truth could be staring him right in the face but Saxe would always find a way to ignore it or try to spin the outcome in his favor. How he managed to stay alive still baffles loyal viewers of Power.

4 LaKeisha Grant

Keisha was never built for this life. While she was best friends with Tasha, she managed to keep that part of their life separated. But then Tommy came into her life and everything about Keisha changed. She went from a likable character to one that viewers were waiting for her to crumble.

During her come up, Keisha began to rub her success in Tasha’s face. To make matters worse, she was about to snitch on the whole operation before Tasha had no choice but to shut her up for good.

3 Angela Valdes

Depending on the viewer, Angela was either loved or hated. She was in love with James since their younger years. Knowing he was married didn’t stop those feelings. She would go on to cover up crimes to protect James and his family.

Angela wasn’t as cold as some of the other characters when in fact, all she wanted was the truth. She did use her badge to her personal gain but in the end, her death was caused by jealousy and not something she did wrong. She was motivated by love and died because of it.

2 Ghost

Ghost was the lead character on power but that doesn’t mean that his hands were clean. Introduced to the audience as an ex-drug dealer turned businessman, Ghost never strayed too far from his criminal lifestyle. Although his plan was to distance himself, his actions and those of others made sure his character walked that invisible line.

Ghost cheated on his wife, threatened his son with a gun, committed murder, and lied countless other times. And yet, viewers saw him as such a great character.

1 Tommy Egan

Tommy does everything off emotion and that’s what makes him dangerous. He loved the St. Patrick family but there was no finish line in sight for Tommy. The future was not important. Hot-tempered, Tommy would make sure he was the last man standing at all cost.

Tommy’s hands were as dirty as they come. But thought it all, the audience understood Tommy and his demons. He was flawed but very still likable. Even his shooting of Angela was fueled by revenge for his father. Viewers are eagerly awaiting his own show that’s soon to come.
