Power Rangers Super Megaforce: Silver Ranger Orion’s Backstory

Who is Power Rangers Super Megaforce’s Silver Ranger Orion and what is his backstory? The long-running Power Rangers franchise began back in 1993 with Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and is still going strong almost 30 years later. The premise is simple: every season or so a new team of teens are recruited by a mentor who trains them in the art of morphing into superheroes (the eponymous Power Rangers) to defeat an evil alien villain.

Power Rangers Super Megaforce is the 21st season in the franchise and aired on Nickelodeon in 2014. It follows on from previous season Power Rangers Megaforce which followed five teens – Troy Burrows, Gia Moran, Noah Carver, Emma Goodall and Jake Holling – as they were guided by their mentor Gosei to form a new team of Power Rangers and battle an invading alien military organization known as the Warstar. Although the Rangers managed to defeat most of the Warstar, it soon emerged they were just the tip of the iceberg when its higher division – an alien army dubbed the Armada – led an attack against planet Earth in Power Rangers Super Megaforce.

Luckily, Gosei added new technology known as Ranger Keys to the team’s arsenal which allowed them to access the powers of past rangers to battle the Armada. The Rangers were also joined by a humanoid alien named Orion who hailed from the planet Andresia where he worked as a miner. While working a quarry on his home planet one day, Orion found one of the Ranger Keys and gained the powers of the Silver Ranger before he was enlisted by the team as their sixth Power Ranger. It soon transpired that the Power Rangers Super Megaforce Silver Ranger certainly had good reason to join them in their fight.

Prior to the events of Power Rangers Super Megaforce Orion lived a peaceful life on Andresia until one fateful day the Armada launched an attack. Much of Andresia was destroyed and Orion’s family and friends were killed, leaving him the sole survivor of the Armada’s attack. Orion vowed revenge on the Armada, and eventually managed to steal one of their ships. He scoured the galaxy looking for the Armada before his search brought him to Earth where he crash-landed and soon joined the Rangers’ ranks, taking up the mantle of Power Rangers Super Megaforce’s Silver Ranger.

Orion proved to be an important member of the team in Power Rangers Super Megaforce. Alongside Red Ranger Troy, Orion infiltrated Armada emperor Marvo’s ship and fought the Power Rangers villain before unleashing his ship’s power and using it destroy the rest of the Armada fleet. Later, Orion battled an army of Marvo’s X-Borg foot soldiers and successfully defeated the Armada for good before deciding to stay on Earth with his newfound teammates and friends.
