There are many unforgettable Pretty Little Liars episodes and fans see some meaningful storylines, from Ali coming back home to Rosewood to the major couples falling in love. But even though many episodes of this popular teen drama are epic and exciting, there are a few episodes from the show’s seven seasons that feel lackluster and not quite as fun or impressive to watch.

From a few episodes in the final season to earlier ones that feature frustrating plotlines, new and existing viewers of Pretty Little Liars could skip a few episodes that feel like filler instead of the most interesting episodes.

10 “The Homecoming Hangover” (S1, E7)

Only some Pretty Little Liars deaths are logical, and there are many moments on the show when the main characters think that Toby has died. This happens for the first time in this highly skippable season 1 episode.

Since Toby is always actually alive, these plotlines feel like red herrings that aren’t very interesting. Another major storyline is Mike being upset about his parents’ divorce, which is discussed in several other episodes, making this one feel unnecessary.

9 “The Goodbye Look” (S2, E2)

This season 2 episode feels pretty random in the grand context of the show. Emily is upset that she might be moving with her parents to Texas, but since this doesn’t end up happening, the episode doesn’t feel important.

Another big event is Jason living in Rosewood again, and although he’s a mysterious character, the storylines surrounding Ali’s brother are often so vague that this is another episode that can be skipped.

8 “Eye of the Beholder” (S2, E23)

Pretty Little Liars fans wait several seasons to find out how Ali disappeared and while it seems like some answers are given in this episode, the characters still don’t learn a lot.

When Duncan tells Ali’s friends that he was there the day that she went missing, fans don’t end up learning as much information as they would like, and this episode feels fairly frustrating.

7 “Crazy” (S3, E7)

Detective Wilden is anything but a fan favorite Pretty Little Liars character. In this season 3 episode, he thinks that Hanna murdered Ali and he isn’t willing to listen to any reason or real evidence.

Wilden is a tough, stubborn character who always judges Ali’s friends and thinks that they’re guilty no matter what. It’s hard to watch this episode because viewers know that Wilden will blame the liars over and over again.

6 “What Lies Beneath” (S3, E10)

One of the more lackluster Pretty Little Liars storylines is when Aria thinks that Maggie and Ezra have a child together. It’s tough to watch because Aria hides a lot from Ezra during this time and doesn’t react very maturely about the potential news.

When new viewers are figuring out which episodes they could skip since seven seasons is a lot to get through, this season 3 episode could definitely be avoided as there are much more exciting, better episodes.

5 “Who’s in the Box?” (S4, E14)

A shocking Pretty Little Liars plot twist is learning that Bethany Young was buried alive, not Ali.

While this is a well-done storyline that leaves fans stunned and wanting to watch more, this season 4 feels like filler and isn’t all that thrilling. The liars are just beginning to think that someone else went missing around the time that Ali did, but since Bethany comes up again, this episode doesn’t need to be watched.

4 “The Silence of E. Lamb” (S5, E7)

Radley is a terrifying location on Pretty Little Liars, and in this season 5 episode, Aria volunteers so she can investigate and learn more about the situation.

Even though it’s usually interesting to watch the liars play detective at this important setting, this episode can definitely be skipped. When Aria tries to find out more details about Ali and the people associated with this scary game, it feels like she can never get enough answers or details, a common issue with a thriller TV show.

3 “She’s No Angel” (S6, E5)

Mona has been an incredible character to follow, as she has been best friends with Hanna, an enemy of the liars, and someone who has been hurt by the A Team as much as anyone else.

In this season 6 episode, Mona comes back to Rosewood and explains that she pretended to die. Since fans have seen a lot of red herrings involving Mona, from learning that she was the first A but then finding out that she’s actually a good person, if a complicated one, it feels like more of the same here.

2 “The Talented Mr. Rollins” (S7, E3)

Toby and Spencer are a favorite Pretty Little Liars couple, which makes this a good episode to skip.

Fans who have always rooted for Toby and Spencer to find their happily ever after will be sad to watch Toby get engaged to another person. While Yvonne is a great character, as she’s sweet and intelligent, it’s heartbreaking to imagine Toby moving on for good when it feels like he and Spencer still care about each other so much.

1 “Original G’A’ngsters” (S7, E7)

The final season of Pretty Little Liars isn’t beloved by every fan, as some have different opinions about how the series should have ended. While many viewers like that the main couples end up together, some might agree that the storyline about Ezra’s partner Nicole is a tough one to enjoy.

In this season 7 episode, Ezra learns that Nicole, who disappeared in South America, is alive. This plotline feels like an obstacle put in so Ezra and Aria would have some tension, so this episode could be skipped.
