This week Amazon’s Prime Video and IMDb TV are adding a huge selection of content to mark the start of the year. A lot of studios have been moving their releases back to movie theaters over the past few months around the ongoing pandemic. However, some movies are still coming to streaming, if not immediately, then soon after their release. These releases offer an opportunity for audiences who prefer the comfort of their own couches to catch new releases, as well as to curl up with some classics.

Last week, Amazon added two movies and a comedy special to wrap up the year. Who You Think I Am is a French film about a middle-aged professor who creates a fake social media account and begins a romantic relationship. Being The Ricardos is a biographical drama based on the lives of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz and stars Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem in the lead roles. Finally, Yearly Departed is a comedy special returning for its second year as an all-female cast of comedians provide eulogies for the last year and wish it good riddance. They also added some older movies to the platform.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

A lot of the streaming platforms use a weekly release cycle that sees them drop all new content on one day of the week. Amazon Prime Video and IMDb TV on the other hand use a monthly cycle. This means that Prime Video makes new additions to their platform throughout the month and the week. But it also means that the start of the month sees a heavier weighting of content. Their new content usually includes a selection of Amazon Originals, movies and TV series that are arriving on streaming for the first time ever, and some older content that is making its debut on Amazon’s streaming services. Here is everything that Amazon is adding to Prime Video during the week of December 27 as it works to ring in the new year of 2022.

Lady Of The Manor (2021) – December 31

The first film added to Amazon’s Prime Video this week is the comedy movie Lady of The Manor. Her time is complicated however when the ghost of the real Lady Wadsworth (Judy Greer) appears to her and insists that she get her act together of be haunted forever.

Grant with Frank Grillo, Tom Hopper, Antonio Banderas, and Morgan Freeman also appearing alongside them. In Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, Michael Bryce (Reynolds) is attempting to retire from his job as a bodyguard and is taking a much-needed vacation until Sonia Kincaid (Hayek) insists she works for him and help her to recover her husband, Darius (Jackson) from the criminals that have kidnapped him.

The Protégé – December 31
