A promising Harley Quinn season 3 update arrives from showrunner Patrick Schumacker as he confirms the audio mix is complete for the show. Created and executive produced by Schumacker, Justin Halpern and Dean Lorey, the HBO Max animated series centers on the titular character as she finally breaks up with the Joker and attempts to establish herself as a powerful supervillain in Gotham to the Legion of Doom while still dealing with her feelings for the Clown Prince of Crime. In her efforts to carve out her own successful criminal empire, Harley builds her own crew with Poison Ivy, whom she begins to develop feelings for, Clayface, Doctor Psycho, King Shark and Sy Borgman.

Kaley Cuoco leads the cast of Harley Quinn in the titular role alongside Lake Bell as Poison Ivy, Alan Tudyk as the Joker and Clayface, Tony Hale as Doctor Psycho, Ron Funches as King Shark, Jason Alexander as Sy Borgman, J.B. Smoove as Frank the Plant, Diedrich Bader as Batman, Andy Daly as Two-Face, James Adomian as Bane and Christopher Meloni as Jim Gordon. Originally premiering on DC Universe before moving to HBO Max, the series has received critical acclaim in its first two seasons for its animation, insightful character development, dark humor and the vocal performances from its cast. Following its shift to HBO Max in mid 2020, Harley Quinn was renewed for season 3 and after a two-year wait, fans of the series have exciting news coming their way.

Showrunner Patrick Schumacker took to Twitter to share a promising Harley Quinn season 3 update. The creator/executive producer revealed that the first audio mix for the new season has been complete and excitedly expressed that “It’s happening!“. Check out Schumacker’s reveal post below:

Schumacker’s Harley Quinn season 3 update comes just over a year after the showrunner previously revealed that recording had finally kicked off for the next chapter of the animated series. It also comes a few months after the first look at the new season was revealed at the second DC FanDome event in October 2021, which poked fun at the extended time development was taking for the animation and featuring animatics of Harley and Ivy embarking on their “Eat, Bang, Kill” tour of Gotham and brief glimpses of fellow villains King Shark, Clayface, Dr. Psycho and Bane. Harley Quinn season 3 also drew attention from the public when it was revealed DC cut an explicit sex scene between Batman and Catwoman due to a fear of toy sales for the Dark Knight.

Given audio mixing typically comes late in the post-production process, Schumacker’s reveal of the first mix being complete for Harley Quinn season 3 does mark a promising sign for the show’s return. Fellow showrunner Justin Halpern previously teased that the series would return in late 2021 to early 2022, the latter of now seems likely based on Schumacker’s update. In the meantime, audiences can catch up with the first two seasons of Harley Quinn streaming on HBO Max now.
