As the PlayStation 5 continues to sell out at every major retailer as soon as restocks arrive, some shoppers are getting desperate. This has led to a huge bump in scalpers and scammers in recent months. A new site claiming to be a business called Randalls Bean has the PS5s listed as in-stock, and is even selling them at a discount. So, is Randalls Bean a legit site or a complete scam?

Sony’s PlayStation 5 released in November of last year, and ever since then, PS5 restocks have happened randomly and infrequently. However, as major stores continue selling out, a site called Randalls Bean claims to have plenty in stock and is selling both versions of the PS5 for a 5% discount. If this sounds too good to be true, that’s because it probably is.

The site for Randalls Bean has only appeared recently, and there are several warning signs that it’s not a legit business. Adding to the confusion is the fact that Randall Beans – NOT Randalls Bean – is a legitimate business that makes and sells actual bean products, which can make navigating user reviews a bit more difficult. So for anyone looking to get a PS5 in 2021, there are definitely better ways. Here’s why Randalls Bean seems like a scam.

PlayStation 5 Stock: Why Randalls Bean Seems Like A Scam

A visit to the FAQ page for Randalls Bean reveals an address, email, and user questions about the company. A quick search of the listed address into Google Earth shows a pretty decrepit warehouse (pictured above). Furthermore, a search for Randalls Bean in Pennsylvania’s Business Registry yields no results – all of which points to the fact that the site is indeed a scam.

Perhaps most damning of all is the Frequently Asked Questions portion, specifically the question, “Are you a real business?” The official response is simply “Why not?” – an answer that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence in a company’s legitimacy. For shoppers looking to get their hands on a PlayStation 5 whenever they restock, Randalls Bean doesn’t appear to be a good way to go. All of this evidence combined seems to point toward its being a complete scam.

While it’s understandably frustrating that PS5s continue selling out so quickly, it’s always best to try to find one from a well-known and established retailer. Sites like Randalls Bean just seem too good to be true – and that’s usually because they are. Hopefully, more PlayStation 5 restocks will happen soon at major online retailers, so that prospective buyers can purchase one in a safe manner.
