Walmart’s Black Friday 2021 ad is live online and reveals the retailer’s online store will restock PS5 and Xbox Series X consoles next week. Both pieces of hardware turned one-year-old only a handful of days ago, yet remain supply constrained due to the ongoing global chip shortage, which could continue for another year.

Sony and Microsoft seem resigned to the fact that the shortage won’t soon come to an end, despite the occasional hopeful outlook. In fact, the former recently adjusted its production and sales target for the fiscal year that concludes on March 31, 2022. PlayStation previously estimated 16 million PS5 consoles would be manufactured by the end of next March. As of last week, that expectation dipped considerably to 15 million because of component shortages. Not everyone who wants a current-gen console will have one waiting for them under the Christmas tree, then. Some people may get lucky, though, with several retailers confirming PS5 and Xbox Series restocks in Black Friday deals.

As spotted by Twitter user Wario64, retailer Walmart has officially posted its Black Friday ad for 2021. The sale lasts from Monday, November 22 through Sunday, November 28, and will feature restocks for PS5 and Xbox Series X platforms. According to the ad, orders for PS5 (Digital and Disc) and Xbox Series X will only be taken online while supplies last. Walmart Plus members will gain access to all of the store’s online deals four hours ahead of everyone else; those interested in the service can join now via WalmartPlus.com.

Quantities on each of the consoles will obviously be limited; as such, there’s no guarantee Walmart’s PS5 and Xbox Series X restock won’t sell out during the four-hour early access period for Walmart Plus members. It’s unfortunate, but Black Friday shoppers looking to purchase a supply-constrained console this holiday season would do well to keep an eye on multiple retailers throughout the next couple of weeks.

Both consoles have enjoyed a solid first year on the market in terms of hardware and software. PS5 owners were treated to the likes of Demon’s Souls, Returnal, and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart. Xbox Series X|S early adopters recently got their hands on Forza Horizon 5 and will finally get to explore the long-awaited Halo Infinite in December. Suffice it to say, the second year is looking even brighter for both pieces of hardware, especially with God of War: Ragnarök, Horizon Forbidden West, Redfall, and Starfield on the docket for 2022.
