Psychonauts 2: Scavenger Hunt Guide (How to Find All 16 Items)

The much-anticipated Psychonauts 2 is finally in the hands of gamers, and reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. As a callback to the original game, this follow-up includes a scavenger hunt or, as it’s called in-game, a hunt for mission-critical Psychonauts assets.

Once players arrive in the Motherlobe of Phsychonauts 2, they will run into Norma who gives them the side mission with a colorful and comedic goal in mind. The scavenger hunt items are scattered across the four hub worlds: Motherlobe, Quarry, Questionable Area, and Green Needle Gulch.

After finding all items, a prompt will appear to guide the player back to Norma to deposit the assets. It is important for Psyconauts 2 players to realize that the scavenger hunt is not something that can be done mid-game. To collect every asset, all of Raz’s abilities will need to be unlocked, making it impossible to finish this side mission before the end of the game. Not to worry, though – fast-travel should make it easier.

Where to Find all 16 Scavenger Hunt Items

The scavenger hunt includes sixteen items to collect throughout Psychonauts 2. Here are the items and where to find them:

Motherlobe Items

• Day Old Sushi: On the buffet countertop of the Noodle Bar.
• Psychonauts Name Plaque: On a storage closet door next to Milla’s office.
• Enemy Surveillance Device: In the artifact storage room, there is a door that requires the Astral Projection ability to access. The device is on top of a locker.
• Deck of Cards: In the astral lanes, players must use the new Telekinesis power to bowl three frames. The cards will then appear out of the ball return machine.
• Astronaut Ice Cream: In the nerve center, there is a green-lit computer. When players interact with it, another nearby computer screen lights up, allowing interaction with it as well. Players should do this until a screen on the far wall under some faded astronaut drawings lights up. When this computer is interacted with, it provides the ice cream.

Quarry Items

• Agent Orientation Laserdisc: In Otto’s lab, players can take a right past Otto. There is a tunnel of electrified flooring that must be Levitated over. The Laserdisc is at the end of this hall.
• Unexploded Bomb: Just outside the entrance to the abandoned mine, players can find a bonfire next to a minecart that must be lit using Pyrokinesis. This will give players access to a wood plank held up by a crane. The bomb is there.
• Psitanium Knife: Players should head toward the Psychonauts jet and use the updraft to reach a higher platform. At the end of this platform, players can see a small branch that marks the beginning of a path that can be swung and jumped across, leading to a distant cave where the knife hides. Once in the cave, Raz can climb the high stone pillars to spot the item.

Questionable Area Items

• Can of Corn: This item can be found in Sassyclops Cave. Players must light the first campfire in the cave using Pyrokinesis. This creates an updraft that can be levitated on. The can of corn is on a ledge above.
• Switchblade Hatchet: Just outside the Aquato camp, there is a spinning water wheel. Players must use the Time Bubble ability to climb it and reach the roof where the hatchet is found.
• Human Skull: The skull is on top of the left side of the funicular.
• Novelty Mug: On a shelf inside the locked closet of Lumberjack Dinner. It can be obtained with Astral Projection.

• Mini Murder Bug Bot: A walkway above Nona’s house can be accessed from the balcony by her bed. The bot is at the end.
• Viking Helmet: Behind Helmut’s Feelmobile.
• Beehive Shaped Like My Phone: On the ledge behind Cassie’s house.
• Signed Copy of Mindswarm: Upon completing Cassie’s level, players can speak to her in Boole’s Menagerie. Raz will ask her to sign his copy of Mindswarm, and the item can be collected.

The scavenger hunt in Psycholauts 2 is a reasonably challenging side quest in the game. It’s a great call-back to the original that reminds players just what kind of imaginative world they’ve been missing.
