In Season 7 earlier this year, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds released Ranked Mode, a highly requested mode from the PUBG fanbase. However, Ranked Mode is only exclusive to Squads, which immediately provoked a response from PUBG players about Ranked Solos. If players wanted to queue alone for Ranked, they would either have to auto-fill their squad or would have to go in alone against many other 4-person squads. This puts solo players at a disadvantage simply because they want to experience Ranked Mode.

Finally, PUBG has announced that Ranked Solos will be coming when Season 9 starts later this month. Unfortunately, there is no exact start date for when Season 9 will start. PUBG seasons usually last around 12 weeks, so players should see Ranked Solos and Season 9’s release within 3 or 4 weeks. Ranked Solos will most likely feature the same divisions as squads, starting from Bronze and going up to Master. This means that by the end of the month, players will be grinding their way to Master in Ranked Solos.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Previously, the developers did not want to bring Ranked Solos to PUBG because it might raise queue times in other, unranked modes. It seems like they now believe that PUBG is in stable position to release Ranked Solos and still have healthy queue times, so hopefully players won’t be waiting in 5 minute queues to drop into a match. Fear of high queue times and an unhealthy game state is most likely the reason why players won’t see Ranked Duos for at least another couple seasons.

PUBGs Ranked Solos Work Similarly To Squads

Ranked Solos is going to play very similarly to Ranked Squads. Players will earn rating points based on their kills and placement until they eventually rank up divisions. If a player is killed, extra rating points could be awarded based on how much higher their rank was than their killer’s. Ranked Solos will also have an entirely different ruleset than normal solo games, with red zones and the BRDM-2 being removed. Loot will be increased and blue zones will shrink faster in an attempt to make the game more competitive.

Erangel, Miramar, Vikendi, and Sanhok are all playable maps in Ranked Solos. Karakin, the most recent map, will not be included. Another feature that’s removed in Ranked Solos is the addition of bots. Bots were added to PUBG in a recent update, but will not be featured in ranked. Ranked Solos will be a pure test of skill in intense player vs player battles. Players should also be aware that rank decay will exist, so they will have to be active if they want to keep their rank.

While waiting for PUBG Season 9 to come out, players should try to collect all of their Season 8 ranked rewards. This season’s ranked rewards include an exclusive UAZ and parachute skin, as well as an emblem to go along with their rank. Be ready for Ranked Solos, as many players will be practicing and practicing so they can achieve the highest rank possible. Go into Ranked Solos strong, and get that chicken dinner!
