Queer Eye: Jonathan Van Ness Ends 2020 With Big Surprise…He’s Married!

Jonathan Van Ness, one of the Fab Five from Netflix’s Queer Eye, never fails to spread happiness through his transformational hair styles and always-upbeat disposition. Now, the 33-year-old Quincy, Illinois, native gets to enjoy some happiness himself. On the last day of 2020, Jonathan dropped an exciting bomb on Instagram – he’s married!

When Queer Eye debuted on Netflix in 2018, viewers instantly gravitated toward Jonathan because of his infectious personality. Whether the person getting a life overhaul by the Fab Five was a shy teenager or a balding, middle-aged man, Jonathan saw everyone as “gorg.” They just needed a little “zhuzh.” Despite Jonathan’s cheery exterior, he led a not-so-cheery life. In his memoir Over The Top, he reflects on his troubled past. Jonathan was sexually abused as a child, became addicted to hard drugs, and was diagnosed with HIV at the age of 25.

But, just as most of his Queer Eye clients do, Jonathan turned things around. He’s now a spokesperson for HIV-positive individuals, travels the world as a standup artist, and most recently, announced that he is officially married! As reported by People, Jonathan married his partner Mark Peacock in 2020. While everyone is dying to know how and when the pair met, they’re keeping most details of their relationship private.

Jonathan shared the news on Instagram right before the start of the new year. In a lengthy post, which includes numerous highlights from 2020, he said, “I got married to my best friend & have a loving partner to continue building my life with.” This tidbit appeared midway through the post, but it naturally generated the most buzz among fans and the rest of the Fab Five. Karamo Brown commented, “Yay! We can finally celebrate it publicly!! So happy for you!!!!!! One of the most Beautiful couples in the world.” Bobby Berk’s comment led fans to believe the Queer Eye crew already knew about Jonathan’s major milestone. He said, “Yay!! That was a hard secret to keep!!” As for Antoni Porowski, who is always easily distracted by furry friends, he said, “wait you got a dog?!?!?!” The full post can be seen below.

Mark, a native of London, took to his own Instagram to let followers know about his new husband. He posted a sweet photo of the two with the caption, “I left London and moved across the Atlantic, got dressed up for numerous seriously hilarious zoom quizzes, re-discovered a love for gardening, learn to drive on the left, got married to my soulmate and one true love…” The post can be seen below.

Queer Eye fans can’t wait to see all that married life holds for Jonathan. He’s already a stunning, HIV-positive, ice skating, non-binary “queen.” And now, he can be all of that and more with a supportive partner by his side.
