Ralph Breaks The Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 has two post-credits scenes, each of which trolls the audience in a way only a movie about the internet truly can. Once the purview of comedies seeking one last joke and superhero movies teasing the future, after-credits stingers can turn up in any type of film – even those about video game characters traveling into the world wide web.

Wreck-It Ralph 2 sees the titular arcade game villain (voiced by John C. Reilly) and best friend Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) use a newly installed WiFi router to go into the internet. Their primary goal is to save Sugar Rush, Vanellope’s game, but that takes them all over the net, from eBay to becoming viral stars to a lengthy stopover in Oh My Disney. There’s so much in the internet that’s not just cats, and Ralph Breaks The Internet tries to experience (or parody) it all.

Of course, not all of it can fit in the film proper. Ralph Breaks The Internet has two post-credits scenes that both lightly mock internet trends and, in a more intelligent way, Disney itself. Here’s what happens and what the jokes really mean.

Ralph Breaks The Internet’s Mid-Credits Scene – The Missing Trailer Scene

Disney fans who watched all the trailers for Ralph Breaks The Internet may have been a little confused come the end of the sequel: one of the best moments from the marketing wasn’t there. The teaser trailer ended on a sequence showing Ralph and Vanellope gatecrashing a mobile game where players feed a cute cartoon cat and rabbit with milkshakes and pancakes respectively. When a cartful of pancakes it brought in, Ralph feeds the rabbit until it explodes – terrifying the little girl playing the game. This scene is nowhere in the main film.

That’s because it’s actually Wreck-It Ralph 2‘s mid-credits scene, and it starts with an admittance it was in the trailer; the little girl is on her way back from a movie and comments that one of the trailer scenes wasn’t in the film. Not just a meta wink to the mid-credit scene’s own nature, it’s a rib of a tendency of Disney marketing to feature scenes not in the finished film due to changes in the edit or special effects, as well as how two 2018 Marvel movies – Black Panther and Ant-Man and the Wasp – actually spoiled their after-credits stingers in the trailers.

Ralph Breaks The Internet’s Post-Credits Scene – The Frozen 2 Rick Roll

Wreck-It Ralph 2‘s after-credits scene pokes even more fun at itself and Disney in general. A voiceover promises a sneak peek of Frozen 2, 2019’s big Disney animated release, only for a flurry of beautiful snowflakes to make way for Ralph and other characters from Ralph Breaks The Internet singing in a recreation of Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up” music video. It’s a Rick Roll on the big screen, a wink towards the once-popular trend of fake links leading to the YouTube video of Astley’s 1980s hit.

Of course, while this is a joke at the expense of those who’ve waited through the very long animated credits, it’s nevertheless the start of Disney marketing Frozen 2, which is due to release on 22 November, 2019. And it’s not without any reveals; this would seem to reveal the logo, with more curved design instead of the originals angles.

Other Easter Eggs in Ralph Breaks The Internet’s Credits

These aren’t the only jokes you’re missing if you leave Ralph Breaks The Internet before the credits have rolled; accompanying the scroll of names are a bevy of app icons for made-up tech companies.

Wreck-It Ralph 2 is a fully populated internet, and when Disney couldn’t use an existing brand for whatever reason, they made up fake ones. So, along with featuring eBay and Google prominently and the likes of Spotify, Instagram and more in the background, the film is full of fake companies: BuzzTube, Slaughter Race, and literally hundreds more. While most are blink-and-you’ll-miss-it, Ralph Breaks The Internet‘s credits put the focus right on them, scrolling alongside the crew.
