Ramyseason 2 is streaming on Hulu, and here’s everything to know about the new and returning cast members and their characters. Premiering in 2019, Ramy was created by the trio of Ramy Youssef, Ari Katcher, and Ryan Welch, with season 1 introducing viewers to Ramy Hassan and his family. Portrayed by Youssef, Ramy is a first-generation American Muslim that is grappling with how he wants to live his life. In the show’s first batch of episodes, Ramy is depicted as wanting to live a life free of pressure and responsibility while also wanting to connect more deeply to his faith and its teachings. Similarly to series such as Louie and Master of None, the intrigue of Ramy emerges from how the protagonist’s contradictions emerge in a number of comedic and relatable situations.

Although Ramy is often focused on its title character, with Youssef unexpectedly winning at the Golden Globes for his performance, the Hulu dramedy has focused several of its episodes on the perspectives of those in Ramy’s direct orbit. The show has been praised for this approach, with many critics pointing out the fact that the central characters of Ramy are defined far beyond a few stereotypes and predictable traits.

The series was renewed shortly after the first installment premiered. With many of the characters returning for the show’s sophomore outing, as well as a few notable guest stars, here’s a guide to the cast and characters of Ramy season 2 on Hulu.
