Red Dead Redemption 2 features various challenges for players to tackle, including hunting Cormorants throughout the world. Cormorants are a specific genus of birds that populate the world of Red Dead Redemption 2. While they are worthy of hunting during typical gameplay, sometimes players must hunt Cormorants to complete daily challenges.

Cormorants are found in general areas throughout Red Dead Redemption 2. Unlike typical birds like geese, Cormorants can be spotted by identifying their characteristic feathers that sit above each eye, like cartoonish eyebrows. Hunting Cormorants gains players feathers, flight feathers, bird meat, and bird carcasses. Each of these loot items can net players money and crafting supplies used for recipes.

Cormorants are found along various waterways in Red Dead Redemption 2 and Red Dead Online. Waterways flow through several land areas in RDR2, but there are specific locations where players can reliably find Cormorants for hunting purposes. Generally, Cormorants are found surrounding Flat Iron Lake and its residual rivers. The main Cormorant hubs are West Elizabeth, New Hanover, and Lemoyne. West Elizabeth and Lemoyne are prime locations for Cormorant hunting, while New Hanover contains just a few locations with Cormorant populations. It’s worth pointing out that even if players spawn an overweight Arthur, they should be able to run down Cormorants with ease.

West Elizabeth

  • Along the Tall Trees and Great Plains border near the Upper Montana River.
  • Near the fork in the Upper Montana River that splits into small islands toward the east of the river.
  • Near the mouth of the Upper Montana River, near the fork that splits into Flat Iron Lake.

New Hanover

While players must find Cormorants along specific waterways in Red Dead Redemption 2, there are certain areas where players can reliably find them. Players can locate and hunt bushy-browed Cormorants with extra information, which is a bit easier than finding plants like Indian Tobacco in RDR2.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One.
