A Red Dead Redemption 2glitch turns Arthur and the entire environment surrounding him into a trippy light show, and no one is exactly sure why. Rockstar’s open-world western has maintained a steady following since its release in 2018. The game’s community has crafted a range of fan-made hilarity, including some Rockstar memes that generate chuckles and laughs. RDR2’s campaign is a lengthy experience that follows the gritty lifestyle of the Dutch van der Linde gang as they run and hide from the law. Once players finish the story, a wealth of activities are still present for gamers to tackle.

Despite its immersive story and sandbox multiplayer, Red Dead Redemption 2 also possesses its fair share of glitches, such as the horse that got trapped under water forever. Moreover, the game features unlockable cheat codes, continuing the trend of its predecessor as well as the Grand Theft Auto franchise. However, “completionists” should note that using cheat codes will prevent them from unlocking achievements until the game is restarted without cheats.

Redditor pazortega1  found another wonderful glitch that turns the game’s protagonist, Arthur Morgan, and the world around him into a strange mess of psychedelic lights and spectacle. As he treks through the world, the lights ebb and flow in a vibrant sea of colors, giving off vibes similar to what one would assume someone experiences after consuming a lot of hallucinogenics. The shifting colors blot out the falling rain, making it appear as if the colorful world of Super Mario is invading Red Dead Redemption 2.

Glitches, mysteries, and mysterious glitches are par for the course in modern video games, especially ones the size of Red Dead Redemption 2. While developers often do what they can to combat such flaws, it’s nearly impossible for them to catch and fix everything before they’re ready to produce a new game. With the reliance on the internet and the games-as-a-service model, titles releasing in what many would argue is an unfinished state has become the norm – an acceptable practice among companies, but a frustrating one among gamers. Despite the frustration, however, there are moments of amusement that arise from glitches.

Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto V are massive games, and to expect them to be flawless – ever – is as unreasonable as it is naïve. However, game breaking bugs are as unacceptable as a fan’s expectation that zero glitches will exist at launch. Often, the correct expectation and answer lies somewhere in the middle – bugs that are goofy and off-putting, but not game breaking. The vibrant light show found by pazortega1 is a good example of the kind of glitch that’s goofy – maybe a little off-putting – but not game breaking. It’s something that should be fixed, but doesn’t prevent players from progressing.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia.
