There’s a lot of hidden things in Red Dead Redemption 2‘s depiction of the wild west, but no one has ever discovered an actual giant until now. Rumors about fantastic creatures in Red Dead Redemption 2 have been circulating since the game’s release, spurred along by the previous Undead Nightmare DLC which depicted the player character, John Marston, participating in a side quest which led him to hunt and kill the last of the living Sasquatches.

Despite a lack of any mission-based single player DLC like players received with the first Red Dead Redemption, there are still lots of secrets hidden in the game for players to discover. From a wide variety of random events to hunting down serial killers, it’s clear that Rockstar put a lot of time and energy into making Red Dead Redemption 2 look like a living, breathing world. However, developers very rarely get the chance to include every idea they have, and many things which are discussed and even created for video game projects are eventually pulled and scrapped, never to see the light of day.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Now, thanks to a new YouTube video by Strange Man, players know a little bit more about the cut content in Red Dead Redemption 2, specifically about an actual, literal giant which was slated to appear. By listening to the giant’s cut dialog, it’s clear that he was hiding out in the mountains to avoid the eyes of the public, and while the player doesn’t seem to have been able to physically hurt the creature, many conversation options existed for Arthur or John to hurt the giant’s feelings. Check out the video below:

According to the video, the giant in Red Dead Redemption 2 was most likely simply sitting in front of the entrance to a cave and could be approached pretty much whenever the player desired. He contains all kinds of dialog for contextual actions, including statements for when a player takes out their lasso or weapons. The giant even has a recorded line for when the player is feeling ill, something which could have possibly tied in to the later chapters of Red Dead Redemption 2‘s story.

By listening to all of the dialog in Strange Man’s video, it’s clear that the giant in Red Dead Redemption 2 was a depressed, lonely creature. There are hints to a former life in the circus, and the way he responds when insulted speaks to a character who was likely demeaned for the majority of his existence. While this would have been an interesting character for Rockstar to include, the only trace of any sort of giant in Red Dead Redemption 2 remains the remains of an over-sized humanoid, previously thought to possibly be a Sasquatch, its skeleton slowly decomposing in the sun.
