Hailing from Milwaukee, the creators known as Red Letter Media have been juggernauts on Youtube for years. They are known for their humorous parodies and their cynical reviews of movies both old and new.

They have created several successful ongoing series but their flagship show, Best of the Worst is one of the greatest series on Youtube. Best of the Worst has garnered millions of views and has featured many celebrity guest stars. Their hilarious commentary and cynical wit have garnered them well over a million subscribers on the platform.

10 Episode 9 – V World Matrix, The Amazing Bulk, ????

In the 9th installment of Best of the Worst, the gang invites their friend Colin, a visual effects artist, to watch some bad movies. The first two movies they pick are visual effects films while Colin brings along his own film to show in the third spot.

The episode is hilarious and marked the show’s first true guest star. The gang has a fun time ripping apart the film’s terrible visual effects along with a professional effects artist, and Colin’s commentary is particularly funny.

9 Episode 5 – The Wheel Of The Worst #1

Best of the Worst has run for several years and since its inception, the crew has introduced many gimmicks to spice up the show. Episode 5 introduced the first, and longest-running gimmick in the show’s history.

The Wheel of the Worst is spun to randomly select films to watch, which departed from their usual themed episodes. Instead of watching traditional films, the gang instead randomly selects a series of instructional tapes and other strange oddities they have in their VHS collection. The hilarious randomness of the gimmick has led to many Wheel of the Worst episodes and it is a popular segment on the show.

8 Episode 58 – Halloween Spooktacular

Every year, the Best of the Worst crew gather for a special Halloween episode of the show. 2017’s outing was a particularly memorable and hilarious episode that saw the gang watch a trio of random horror movies.

The quality of episodes usually hinges on the quality of the bad movies that they select and in episode 58 the gang had a lot of humor to work with. The “Halloween Spooktacular” episode showcased the show’s hilarious editing and the raucous energy of the panel carries over from the screening room and into the discussion segments.

7 Episode 14 – Elves, Santa Claus, Christmas Vacation 2

The first year of Best of the Worst ended with the gang establishing another classic tradition. Episode 14 was the first Christmas episode of the show and the panel was on fire with humorous commentary about the three bizarre Christmas movies that they watched.

During the discussion segment about the film Santa Claus, the gang doubles over with laughter as they goof on the horrible old film. The episode is not only memorable because of the terrible films showcased but the funny panel discussion that goes off the rails when the crew can’t stop laughing.

6 Episode 63 – The Black Spine Edition

Mike Stoklasa, one of the masterminds behind Red Letter Media, plays the part of the antagonist in episode 63. Introducing a new gimmick is treated as a form of torture as the crew is subjected to randomly selected tapes that have no distinguishing marks. Instead of picking tapes based on their title or box art, the crew has to pick a random, unmarked tape, and watch whatever was on it.

Like a lot of gimmicks on the show, the black spine gimmick is contingent upon the quality of the tapes watched and the first episode doesn’t disappoint. The crew sits through a dance troupe’s demo reel, a hilarious motivational tape, and several oddball instructional films, all of which get laughs.

5 Episode 72 – Plinketto #7

The Plinketto gimmick, a parody of plinko from The Price is Right, had been introduced in earlier episodes. The gimmick really found its stride by the seventh iteration and the episode is helped along by guest star Macaulay Culkin.

With Culkin in tow, the gang watch several randomly selected films including Home Alone 4, which was provided by Culkin himself. The episode shines because the films are hilarious and Macaulay Culkin fits in perfectly with the established cast of Best of the Worst.

4 Episode 4 – Deadly Prey, Hard Ticket To Hawaii, Miami Connection

Only four episodes into the series and the crew put on a classic episode with some of the most memorable movies from the entire series. While they were still getting the format figured out, the gang stumbled across three horrible ’80s action films that would become staples of the show.

The simplicity of the episode is one of the best parts about it. Before all of the gimmicks and guest stars, the show used to feature a list of preselected movies and that assured that the quality was high. The three films featured in episode four give the crew plenty to work with and it is genuinely hilarious watching them react to them.

3 Episode 27 – The Star Wars Holiday Special

Red Letter Media closed out their second year of Best of the Worst with their most requested movie ever. The Star Wars Holiday Special is one of the most notoriously weird moments in the franchise’s long history and the gang has a field day with it.

Hilariously, the gang took up two whole episodes to talk about the special and spent the first part talking about everything but the terrible film. While the episodes usually focus on multiple films, the panel is given the opportunity to drill into one particular film and their commentary is not only insightful but humorous as well.

2 Episode 35 – Photon Effect, How I Saved The President, Double Down

Though some episodes feature multiple films, often a single film will steal the show and overshadow the rest. Episode 35 saw the appearance of guest star Max Landis and a trio of bafflingly bad films for them to watch together.

The anchor of the entire episode is the odd Neil Breen film called Double Down. It was genuinely hilarious to see the entire panel erupt into laughter as one by one they try to describe the plot of the film. That segment alone is often regarded as one of the funniest moments in the entire Red Letter Media catalog.

1 Episode 60 – Wheel Of The Worst #16

After many years of doing the show, rarely does a film impress the Best of the Worst crew. However, in episode 60 of the series, the gang randomly selected three instructional tapes from the Wheel of the Worst and struck gold.

The final film screened was a shockingly gruesome police instructional tape known as Surviving Edged Weapons and the gang had a field day. Not only is the film itself hilarious, but the gang’s commentary and their genuine surprise is the stuff of comedy legend. In a funny twist, the episode ends with the tape being inducted in the sparsely populated “Best of the Worst Hall of Fame”, and it gets a round of applause from the crew.
