Resident Evil Outrage Is Reportedly A Code Veronica-Style Game With Returning Protagonists

According to a reputable Resident Evil leaker, the previously leaked Resident Evil Outrage will reportedly take the form of a “Code Veronica tier” game, revolving around at least a few returning protagonists. RE Outrage first entered the public consciousness late last year, following a ransomware attack on Capcom’s network. This particular project counted among the many games whose titles and release windows were leaked online in the hack’s aftermath.
The leak in question let loose very few details about the mysterious Resident Evil Outrage. However, fans of the series can apparently expect it to launch in the fourt quarter of this year, likely during the holiday season. This doesn’t count as the only Resident Evil title that Capcom’s quietly working on, either. That very same leak also made note of two other upcoming advetures in the long-running horror series – the much-coveted Resident Evil 4 remake will supposedly launch in the fourth quarter of 2022, followed by something called Resident Evil Hank that’s on track for a Q4 2024 roll out.
In a Twitter post over the weekend, Resident Evil leaker Dusk Golem claimed to have heard that Outrage was once RE Revelations 3. Apparently, the game will launch as a timed-exclusive for Nintendo Switch, but won’t receive a formal announcement until later in the year, since Capcom’s marketing focus now centers on RE Village’s May 2021 release. Dusk Golem then went on to say Outrage will run on a version of RE Engine that’s compatible with Switch, akin to the imminent Monster Hunter Rise. Outrage is reportedly of a higher quality than the first two Revelations entries, Dusk Golem continued, alleging the former’s been in development for four years and has a “budget closer to Village’s.” This will guarantee Outrage is more of a “Code Veronica tier title,” with protagonists such as Rebecca set to return.
Outrage 100% is RE Engine, though the RE Engine that’s compatiable with Switch like Monster Hunter Rise is. It won’t be the best looking RE game, but it’ll still look pretty damn good, especially on Switch. https://t.co/xRJ8fO6rvg

It’s had a higher budget and a lot more dev time than either Rev 1 or 2, for the record it’s been in dev for like 4 years & a budget closer to Village’s. I think they may not use the Rev name in part because of that.
It’ll be more like a Code Veronica tier title than anything https://t.co/WcaHcZVMZA

Yes. I first heard about Rev 3 in 2017 that it’d star Rebecca, and I’ve been updated several times over the years its a Rebecca game still. I’m semi aware of who the 2nd & 3rd protagonists are too, both returning characters, but these lips are zipped for now. https://t.co/jkrqepL93F

As is always the case, fans should take all of the above with a grain of salt. Capcom has yet to even confirm Outrage’s existence, let alone unveil specific details about its release, story, and characters. If the above details do indeed bear some semblance of truth, though, it’s not known when the publisher will finally be ready to lift the veil itself.
With regards to Resident Evil, all of Capcom’s focus currently centers on RE Village, a continuation of the last mainline entry that producer Peter Fabiano recently teased is “much larger” than RE7. Players who own a PlayStation 5 can experience the exclusive Maiden demo right now, while a separate demo for all platforms will release this spring.
