The eighth installment of Capcom’s iconic survival horror series, Resident Evil Village will soon be in the hands of fans. There has been plenty of promotional material for the game, including a PlayStation 5-exclusive demo known as Maiden, which gave players a taste of the game’s atmosphere but didn’t include any of the final game. Now, three new Resident Evil Village demos will allow players to get multiple glimpses at the final product.

Two of the upcoming Resident Evil Village demos will be available exclusively for PS4 and PS5, with the third being playable on all platforms that will support the game – PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. All three demos will limit the available playtime and feature different parts of the game. Unlike Maiden, these appear to feature combat and a sizable play area.

The release schedule for these demos is quite convoluted, and the first two are only available for a limited time. PlayStation owners will want to keep the schedule in mind so they don’t miss out on the exclusive demos, which will give them two opportunities to explore separate parts of Resident Evil Village.

Resident Evil Village’s Demo Release Schedule

RE Village’s PlayStation-Exclusive “Village” Demo

The first of the three demos is available exclusively on PlayStation consoles and will allow players 30 minutes to explore RE Village‘s titular village setting. In addition to the 30-minute cap, the demo will only be playable during an eight-hour period. PS4 and PS5 owners can preload the first demo to avoid missing this window. The timeframes in which the first demo is available for different regions are as follows:

  • North America – 5 PM PDT on April 17 to 1 AM on April 18
  • Europe – 7 PM CEST on April 18 to 3 AM on April 19
  • Asia – 5 PM HKT on April 18 to 1 AM on April 19

RE Village’s PlayStation-Exclusive “Castle” Demo

The second demo, also only on PS4 and PS5, will let players explore Castle Dimitrescu, some of which was shown off in the Maiden demo. This Resident Evil Village demo will use the same game download as the previous preloadable one and similarly allow 30 minutes of gameplay within an eight-hour period. The second demo is available during these times:

  • North America – 5 PM PDT on April 24 to 1 AM on April 25
  • Europe – 7 PM CEST on April 25 to 3 AM on April 26
  • Asia – 5 PM HKT on April 25 to 1 AM on April 26

RE Village’s Multiplatform Demo

The third and final Village demo, which will be available on all platforms and won’t require a separate download for PlayStation users, will double the time limit to 60 minutes. This demo is also not limited to one area, so players will be able to choose where they want to explore – the village or the castle. It will be playable during a 24-hour period at the following times:

  • North America – 5 PM PDT on May 1 to 5 PM on May 2
  • Europe – 2 AM CEST on May 2 to 2 AM on May 3
  • Asia – 8 AM HKT on May 2 to 8 AM on May 3

Resident Evil Village is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on May 7, 2021.
