According to a fan poll, a fight between Resident Evil antagonists Nemesis and Lady Dimitrescu would result in a victory for the rocket launcher-weilding monstrosity. The classic survival horror franchise has introduced players to a large number of horrific creatures since originally launching in 1996. Many of these monsters are more powerful than the typical video game enemies, with stalkers like Nemesis and Lady Dimitrescu chasing players throughout large portions of their respective games.

Most Resident Evil foes, from simple zombies to deadly and lightning-fast Hunters, are contained to their own specific area. Conserving ammunition is a big part of the survival horror experience, so moving around foes and escaping the area is usually a valid strategy. However, in games like Resident Evil 2Resident Evil 3: Nemesis and Resident Evil Village, the player is pursued by much more persistent foes who chase them throughout the entire experience. RE2‘s Mr. X started this trend and RE3‘s Nemesis perfected it, with both of these monsters brought back to life in recent remakes of both titles. Resident Evil Village‘s astonishingly tall Lady Dimitrescu brings this mechanic into the franchise’s most recent release, with the deadly vampire queen following players throughout her large castle.

In a Twitter poll from GameSpot, fans voted that Resident Evil‘s Nemesis would defeat Lady Dimitrescu in a fight. While both monstrous foes pursue players throughout their respective titles, Nemesis is perhaps more well-equipped for actual combat. The biological creation is physically powerful, surprisingly fast and can wield advanced weaponry such as a flame-thrower or rocket launcher. While Lady Dimitrescu is extremely resilient, her only weapons in her normal form are large claws that spring from her hands. Nemesis’ weaponry gives him more range and firepower, which may have resulted in the older enemy winning over the statuesque Lady Dimitrescu. Perhaps if Lady Dimitrescu assumes her monstrous dragon form, the fight would have different results.

While Nemesis and Lady Dimitrescu are both among the most popular villains in the Resident Evil series, many fans also tend to compare Nemesis and Resident Evil 2‘s Mr. X. In many ways, Mr. X is a predecessor to Nemesis, having appeared as a reoccurring boss in the second installment – which paved the way for Nemesis’ persistent pursuit of the player in the third game. Both games recently received remakes, which has reignited the question of which monster is more powerful and better at harassing players.

Lady Dimitrescu’s popularity, due to both her monstrous beauty and the recent release of Resident Evil Village, makes her loss to Nemesis quite surprising. However, the explosive-wielding Tyrant has been a staple of the survival horror franchise for decades, and he made a return appearance in 2020’s Resident Evil 3 remake. Both evil beings are able to strike ongoing fear into the hearts of players, so while Nemesis may win in a straight-up fight, it’s actually Resident Evil‘s playable heroes that often lose in the end.
