RHOA: Phaedra Parks’ Dating Timelines With Apollo Nida & Medina Islam

Former The Real Housewives of Atlanta star Phaedra Parks has always had a publicly turbulent love life, and that includes her relationships with Apollo Nida and Medina Islam. From Housewives and The Haves and the Have Nots to Marriage Boot Camp, the lives of Phaedra Parks and her ex-boyfriend Medina Islam have always been accessible to fans of reality TV. Due to Phaedra Parks’ high profile life and the long distance between her and Medina, the couple was not able to save their two-year relationship.

Neither a stranger to television stardom, Medina Islam and Phaedra Parks had a lot in common before even knowing one another. Although Phaedra had already made a name for herself in the mid-2000s for her legal work on Bobby Brown’s court cases and takes on Michael Jackson’s 2005 judicial battles, Phaedra burst onto the reality TV scene with her debut as a housewife on The Real Housewives of Atlanta in 2010. Lasting on the show for a total of seven seasons before getting fired in 2017 for starting a rumor about Kandi Burruss, Phaedra made herself comfortable sharing the good and bad of her romantic life with reality TV audiences. In turn, Medina Islam found fame on Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots, which he starred in from 2014 to 2016. Even though the two took time to find one another amid their prominent lives in the public eye and several flings with other partners, the short-lived relationship between Phaedra and Medina was great while it lasted.

Phaedra Parks & Apollo Nida (2009-2014)

Phaedra Parks entered the Real Housewives franchise just after getting married to her first husband Apollo Nida. The couple got married in November 2009, just in time for Bravo’s cameras to capture the good and bad of their ill-fated marriage. Perks of the reality TV duo’s relationship came in the form of their two sons, Adyen and Dylan, who were born in 2010 and 2013 respectively. The bad came in fights and cheating allegations made against Phaedra Parks. Unfortunately, Phaedra and Apollo decided to call it quits in 2014 when Apollo went to prison for fraud and identity theft charges. Despite the fact that Phaedra is a lawyer, the divorce between the former housewife and Apollo was not finalized until 2017. By the beginning of 2019, Phaedra was pursuing a relationship with Chicago DJ Tony Kapone, although it proved to be poorly founded as Phaedra and Medina Islam announced their relationship later that same year after they met on a dating app.

Phaedra Parks & Medina Islam (2019-2021)

Before dating Phaedra Parks, Medina Islam was no stranger to romantic life with a former Real Housewives of Atlanta star as he had a 6-month relationship with RHOA alum Claudia Jordan in 2016. While this may have provided Medina with the prerequisites to date a reality star like Phaedra, it was riddled with controversy, as Claudia eventually accused Medina of being deceitful and abusive during their relationship. In turn, Medina claimed that all of Claudia’s allegations were untrue and he was soon appearing on Marriage Boot Camp with Phaedra. Although the couple was only 4 months into their budding relationship while filming MBC, they both cited it as a great experience. The couple was strong throughout 2020 despite Phaedra living in Atlanta and Medina being based in Los Angeles. Regrettably, Phaedra revealed that she and Medina were no longer seeing each other in 2021, admitting that the long-distance on top of the pandemic made it too difficult for either of the stars to focus on their romantic life with one another.

Unfortunately, COVID-19 affected Phaedra Parks in both her business and love lives. Dating on and off camera from The Real Housewives of Atlanta to Marriage Boot Camp, the relationship between Parks and Islam proved too high-profile to weather the storm. With that said, the demise of this relationship was one that Phaedra could grieve on her own, without Bravo recording her every move and statement.
