Cynthia Bailey is shutting down hearsay and speculation about the safety of her pandemic wedding to Mike Hill. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star recently explained why her October nuptials were safe and didn’t put her guests at risk.

The former supermodel caught a lot of flak when she decided to stick with the 10/10/20 wedding date she set the year before. Once the pandemic hit the US in early 2020, millions were forced to cancel or postpone their wedding plans. But not Cynthia and Mike. The two moved forward with walking down the aisle at their wedding, which hosted over 200 guests. While safety measures were taken in an effort to ensure everyone’s health, there were some attendees, like The Real Housewives of Potomac star Gizelle Bryant, who complained about feeling unsafe at the nuptials. In the current season of RHOA, fans can see the tension that surfaced between Cynthia and Mike as a result of her deciding to have the big wedding during the ongoing pandemic.

While appearing on Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen on Sunday, January 10, the Bailey Agency founder explained all the precautions that were taken ahead of the pandemic wedding. “We did everything on our end to ensure everyone’s safety, from masks to shields [to] temperature checks,” she explained. The Bravo star said they even “had a COVID-19 specialist come and spray the place” prior to the event. After Cohen shared her wedding was “the #1 question” from viewers, Cynthia explained all the steps that were taken ahead of her and Mike walking down the aisle. “The only time people were allowed to take their mask off was to eat or drink,” she dished. “It’s a wedding, so that happened. And then a lot of people actually wanted to take pictures with their mask off,” she shared. “Because, you know, when you’re taking pictures, like, ‘Oh, can I take the mask off?’ So I wasn’t even thinking. ‘Of course. Oh, now all the pictures are gonna have the mask off.’”

After being asked if any of her guests got sick after the wedding, Cynthia insisted that “no one tested positive [for COVID-19] as a result of being” at her nuptials. So, sticking to her desired wedding date worked out in the end. She and Mike Hill met in 2018 after being set up by their friend, Steve Harvey. By August, they went public with their romance on social media, and Mike was introduced in season 11 of RHOA. In season 12, Mike proposed at the opening of Cynthia’s newest business venture, The Bailey Wine Cellar. The couple teased the possibility of relocating to LA due to Mike’s work on Fox Sports.

The week before her wedding, Cynthia’s bachelorette party made media headlines for an alleged rendezvous that took place between two housewives and the hired exotic dancer. After Tanya Sam was accused of being involved, she stopped filming for the show and hasn’t returned.
