RHOBH: Sources Claim Zayn Malik’s Drug Use Caused Altercation With Yolanda

Insiders close to The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum Yolanda Hadid and singer Zayn Malik claimed that his marijuana use was the cause of his aggressive behavior. News broke last week that Zayn physically and verbally assaulted Yolanda, the mother of his former partner Gigi Hadid, last month at his shared Pennsylvania home with Gigi. He reportedly pushed Yolanda, who considered filing a police report, into a dresser and hurled several insults at her, including staying away from his and Gigi’s daughter, Khai.

Zayn was later charged with four counts of harassment following the incident. Two were from Yolanda, while the other two involved Gigi and their security guard, John McMahon. He was charged with harassing Gigi over the phone and attempting to engage in a fight with the security guard. While the argument took place on September 29, the details of the altercation did not become public until a month later.

Sources close to the NY Post revealed that Zayn has reportedly been known to smoke marijuana to the point that he becomes “aggressive” and “paranoid.” In the past, the former One Direction singer has been open about his use of the drug that is legal in many states. Zayn, who was unfollowed by Anwar and Bella Hadid on social media, admitted the drug helps the “creative process” and even smoked a joint while on tour with the boy band in South America in 2014. Back in January 2021, Zayn was seen smoking on Instagram Live at 6am, which prompted his fans to wonder if his daughter, Khai, was at home during the Live session. According to many sources, his excessive smoking started to become an issue after One Direction became next-level famous.

Zayn reportedly began smoking so much that he became paranoid, even allegedly leading former bandmate Harry Styles to refuse to share any close quarters with him. Now it seems his drug use has continued into his much quieter life away from the spotlight. Following the harassment claims, Zayn, who called Yolanda an inappropriate name, is banned from contacting Yolanda in any way and must complete 360 days of probation in addition to completing an anger management class. He also cannot have any contact with the Hadids’ security guard, with whom Zayn allegedly tried to get into an altercation. Shortly after the news broke of Yolanda and Zayn’s altercation, several news outlets confirmed that Gigi and Zayn had split up. After the incident went public, Gigi fled Paris, where she traveled to for fashion week, and went home. The model has refused to comment on the altercation or her breakup, and is focusing on what is best for her daughter.

While it is unclear whether or not marijuana was the source of Zayn’s outburst, it seems sources close to him believe his drug use has caused him to have a personality change. Zayn used to talk so highly of Gigi and Yolanda, who confirmed her daughter’s pregnancy, before the recent altercation. At the end of the day, Zayn needs to make things right for the sake of his daughter, Khai.
