Following her announcement that she would be departing from The Real Housewives of Orange County, Tamra Judge admitted in an Instagram Live that she didn’t choose to quit the show. She was fired.

In January, the OG Orange County housewife Vicki Gunvalson revealed that she would not be returning to the popular Bravo show for it’s upcoming season, which came as a bit of a shock to fans. The following day, Judge announced she too would be leaving the show after more than a decade. Many speculated that perhaps the pair had been let go due to age and producers wanting younger housewives to be brought in, or that Judge and Vicki chose to leave because they weren’t interested in being demoted from “main housewife” to “guest” or “friend” on the show. While Vicki has said she chose to leave the show, Tamra has since confirmed that she, in fact, was fired.

After the news broke that Judge would be leaving the show, the 52-year-old connected with Watch What Happens Live host and Bravo producer Andy Cohen in an Instagram Live (via Us Weekly), where the pair talked about her departure. While housewives often insist the choice to leave the franchise was theirs, Judge admitted to Cohen “I’m not cheap Andy, and that’s why I got fired!” This implied that perhaps Bravo wasn’t willing to give her the salary she wanted. Judge continued on, saying, “I’m not going to go into detail, but I’m going through some difficult times right now and it was best for me to step away so I can deal with it on my own.” The mother and grandmother told Andy that she’d been struggling with the news, saying it felt “kind of like a death” since she’d been on the show for so long, claiming she’s now like the “red-headed stepchild” of the family. At the time, the housewife admitted she’d “been crying for three days” and she hadn’t “slept or eaten” but says she’ll be “alright.”

Following the announcement she’d be leaving the show, Judge unfollowed Cohen and her Real Housewives co-stars on social media, which Andy brought up during the impromptu interview. Judge said after she found out the news, she wanted it to be “out of sight, out of mind” which is why she unfollowed them all. “I didn’t want to read about it, I didn’t want to see it. I didn’t want to be hurt any more than I already was” she told Andy, but she has now “accepted it” and has since re-followed Cohen on social media, telling him she missed seeing pictures of his 1-year-old son, Ben. Judge also mentioned that she’d received a lot of calls from other housewives, claiming, “All the other OGs are shaking in their boots thinking that they’ll get fired too!” She specifically mentioned Real Housewives of New York star Ramona Singer had called her twice already to talk about it.

With both Judge and Vicki Gunvalson announcing their departure from the the Real Housewives of Orange County, fans are anxious to see if any of the other current housewives will choose to leave and who will replace the long-time cast members. Judge was reportedly offered the opportunity to return to season 15 for three episodes to wrap up her storyline. She turned that down, so fans will have to say their goodbyes to the longtime housewife off-screen instead. Judge will certainly be a difficult role to replace on the show, and hopefully Bravo will soon announce who they will be bringing into the upcoming season.
