RHOC: What To Know About Matt Kirschenheiter, Gina’s Ex-Husband

Gina Kirschenheiter has been open about her messy divorce from her ex-husband, Matt Kirschenheiter. The Real Housewives of Orange County star previously opened up about the restraining order she filed against her husband after he attacked her in the summer of 2019. In the current season of RHOC, fans were introduced to Gina’s current boyfriend, Travis Mullen. But even though Gina has moved on, her ex-husband finally decided to appear on RHOC for the first time. After finally seeing his face onscreen, fans are curious to know more about Gina’s ex.

Gina and Matt called it quits during her debut season on RHOC in 2018. However, after a few months apart, the couple came back together in June 2019. But things came to a messy end a month later when Matt was arrested and charged with two felony accounts of domestic violence. It was at this time that Gina was granted a restraining order against him leading up to their divorce, which was finalized in December 2019. They share three children together: Nicholas, 8, Sienna, 6, and Luca, 5. They have a court date set for some time in January 2021. Last month, Gina revealed they are in a better place and sent her support for Matt’s new girlfriend.

Prior to their drama-filled split, Gina and Matt spent 14 years together, as noted by Celebs In Depth. The two got married in May 2010 after five years of dating. They were college sweethearts who first met while attending Hofstra University in Long Island, NY. By June 2012, they welcomed their first child, Nicholas. Two years later they added their daughter Sienn, and they welcomed their third child, Luca, in August 2015. It’s reported that Matt has a net worth of $250,000. However, in August 2019, during their divorce proceedings, Matt claimed he could not afford the $10,000 monthly child support payments.

After his arrest, Matt was unfortunately let go from his job. He revealed this in his divorce documents. “I have been seeking a new job,” he stated. “Although there have been no criminal charges filed against me and have never been convicted of a crime, it has been very difficult to obtain new employment.” At the season 14 reunion, Gina opened up about being attacked by her ex-husband. “I was really scared,” she recalled. “I ran out of the house, and I rang my neighbor’s doorbell, and I was banging on the door. And he dragged me back in the house.” This season fans get to see the two working together to co-parent their children. Matt also shares his new girlfriend.

“She’s good for him,” Gina said of Matt’s new romance. She also expressed how “thankful” she is that he agreed to film with her. It’s clear they’re working together to provide a peaceful co-parenting environment for their children.
