Joe Giudice, former star of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, has recently revealed that he is trying his best to return to his daughters in the United States following his deportation to Italy. Joe was previously married to Teresa Giudice, who has been part of several of the most iconic and memorable moments within the Real Housewives franchise. The two divorced after 20 years together and a serious bout of legal woes which resulted in both Teresa and Joe being incarcerated.

Joe and Teresa had some rough patches during their time together on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, but issues between them ultimately became unreconciliable after they were both sent to federal prison for fraud. Teresa spent 11 months in prison and became resentful towards Joe for lost time with her mother Antonia who passed away shortly after she was released. Joe was deported to Italy, where he is originally from, following a prison sentence that lasted about 3.5 years. Joe attempted to appeal the decision to have him deported but was denied in April 2020.

On Friday, November 19th, Joe revealed to Us Weekly that he is continuing the fight to return to his four daughters. Above all else, Joe expresses that he misses his family immensely. He says he does not believe that he should be absent from his daughters’ lives. Joe emphasizes how much he wants to see his grandmother and worries she may pass before he is able to return to America, saying “I yearn to hold my grandmother in my arms again before the time comes.” He adds that he misses his mother and, despite the fact that he was born in Italy, points out that he grew up in the United States and misses his home there.

Joe says that he has recently hired a new attorney with assistance from his manager Dominique Enchinton. Joe’s new attorney is Jessica M. Cadavid, who has been hard at work with Joe’s case for a few months and has a plan to help Joe reuinite with Gia, Gabriella, Milania, and Audriana. Although he hadn’t had much legal success in the past, Joe and Jessica believe there is hope for his return home. Jessica explains that her current move is to file a waiver of inadmissibility. Jessica says this waiver is “kind of a forgiveness from the United States government.” While both Joe and his attorney are hopeful that things will all work out in the end, Jessica explains that the process could a minimum of 14 months.

While charges against both Joe and Teresa were certainly severe, the added punishment of being forced to live in another country thousands of miles away from your friends and loved ones is an additional punishment that must feel unbearable to a parent. Throughout Teresa and Joe’s marriage on The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Joe was far from perfect but he has always expressed love for his family and especially his children. Crimes were committed, but both Joe and Teresa served their time. It seems that Joe should be allowed to return to his family having learned from his mistakes, as some would argue that rehabilitation is the theoretical goal of imprisonment in the United States.
