Meet Heather Thomson, the newest ‘friend of’ on The Real Housewives of New York City. She was re-introduced to the series for season 13 after exiting the show before filming season eight. Long-time RHONY viewers will remember Heather for her catchphrases such as “hey mama” and “holla,” which were infamously used in all her taglines throughout her tenure. After appearing on the show for three seasons, here is everything fans should know about her.

Fans first met Heather at the start of season five, along with a few new housewives, including Carole Radziwill and Aviva Drescher. Out of the three newbies, Heather made the biggest impression on the viewers. They loved her because she was a mother, a wife, and a hard-working businesswoman. Heather seemed to have it all and was aspirational to many RHONY fans. Even though she famously feuded with Aviva and her Berkshires home was mocked by some of her castmates, Heather still wanted to make a return part-time.

Heather Thomson was born on April 17, 1970, in New York City. Since she grew up in the city, the 51-year-old always had an affinity for fashion. According to Bravo TV, she began working as a successful designer and stylist in the early days of her career. She worked with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including Jennifer Lopez, Beyoncé, and Sean “Diddy” Combs. As Heather grew within the industry, she was promoted to Director of Design for Diddy’s Sean John label and is even credited as a significant force behind multiple CFDA award nominations. Shortly before she became a main cast member on RHONY season five, Heather, who stopped filming season 13, started her own shapewear company called Yummie Tummie. Throughout her three seasons, Heather showcased her brand by going to photoshoots and even hosting a runway show that included some of the women.

In 2020, Heather, who claims Leah McSweeney assaulted her, revealed she sold Yummie Tummie. According to Women’s Wear Daily, the New York native tried to remove the company’s chief executive officer, Eric Rothfeld, from the business in a lawsuit filed in 2015. He now has a 49% stake in the company but has rebranded it to Yummie since Heather’s departure. Aside from her successful career in the fashion industry, Heather is also a mother of two, Jax and Ella Rae, who she shares with her husband, Jonathan Schindler. With her business behind her and her children all grown up, the mother of two decided to start a podcast called In My Heart With Heather Thomson. Some of her guests included D’Andra Simmons from The Real Housewives of Dallas and former RHONY housewife Carole Radziwill.

Even though Heather did not get the warmest of welcomes from the ladies this season, she is still beloved by so many RHONY viewers. Whether it was her catchphrases or the way she could stand up to any of the women on the cast, Heather was an important part of the show’s history. In any case, viewers are hoping to see more from Heather as season 13 progresses.
