Luann de Lesseps assures fans that The Real Housewives of New York City will return for another season, amid speculation from fans the show is ending after its break. The show has been on a break since the end of season 13, with production even deciding to skip the reunion which traditionally comes at the end of each season. Initially production was being very tight lipped about why the reunion was cancelled, it was later announced it was due to an internal investigation involving Ramona Singer. It was revealed new cast member Eboni K. Williams filed a complaint about Ramona, claiming she made racist comments toward her. The investigation initially just delayed the reunion, and once Ramona was cleared producers felt too much time had passed and no one would end up watching it.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Fans were outraged when the reunion was cancelled, because they felt some cast members, like Ramona and Luann, had a lot to answer for and were essentially given a free pass. Early on in the season, Luann made a comment about Eboni being angry during an argument, likening her to the angry black woman stereotype. Eboni explained why she was offended by Luann’s words, and for the most part Luann was very receptive. She slipped up a few times throughout the season, but was always willing to hear Eboni’s side, even if she didn’t understand. Ramona continuously offended Eboni, and other people of color on the show, and was very unwilling to hear their point of view.

Luann confirmed to fans that RHONY has not been cancelled, amid rumors the show won’t be returning for another season. During an interview with Page Six, Luann said it’s just a matter of when the show will come back, not if the show will come back. Luann explained the only thing keeping the show from starting up again is the casting process. Andy Cohen confirmed as much when he told Michael Rappaport the same thing when appearing on The Wendy Williams Show. In regards to casting, Luann says she doesn’t get the final say but the executives do ask her for her opinion since she has been on the show since the first season. She let it slip that there are some great names being thrown around, and she thinks this season is going to be great. She is planning on going into the season with no expectations and experience everything fully.

While fans were upset their was no reunion, Luann was actually relieved not to have to go back to filming right away. Luann was in Saint Tropez when Bravo executives contacted her, letting her know filming was delayed. She was happy she got to stay on vacation for a little longer and catch a break from her otherwise busy life. With the delay in filming, Luann has been able to embark on a cabaret tour and was super busy preparing for it and then actually performing. She has also been busy filming and promoting The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip. Overall, she is excited for the new season to start, claiming they’re all in a good place with each other.

Due to their bad behavior in season 13, it would be interesting to see if all the housewives return next season. Casting for season 14 of The Real Housewives of New York City has proven to be an issue, so it will be interesting to see if Ramona will be fired after her behavior last season.
