Gizelle Bryant from The Real Housewives of Potomac may be single again, but she still considers her ex-husband, Jamal Bryant, her best friend. Last year, the reality star confirmed that she and Jamal had rekindled their romance after more than ten years since their divorce. While Gizelle was looking forward to giving Jamal a second chance, the three daughters they share weren’t too keen on their parents getting back together. However, Gizelle seemed to have moved on from her ex’s infidelities and was ready to give the relationship another try.

During the latest season of the Bravo reality series, the mother of three had recently started dating Jamal following her break up with her former boyfriend, Sherman. Gizelle dated Sherman for most of season three, however, the relationship began to crumble after he canceled on Gizelle, who is feuding with Wendy, as her date to Candiace Dillard’s wedding. Their relationship wasn’t able to recover after he bailed on her, and Gizelle decided to end the relationship for good.

In an exclusive interview with E! News, the RHOP star opened up about being single but still considering her ex-husband to be one of her closest friends. The pair entered into a long-distance relationship in 2019, but they called it off last month. “Listen, we were a victim of the pandemic,” she revealed to the publication. “I don’t think any long-distance relationship can really withstand not seeing each other. But is he still in my life; is he still one of my best friends? Absolutely.” The breakup came as a shock to many as last April, Gizelle revealed she isn’t opposed to tying the knot with Jamal again. However, the 50-year-old is ready and looking for a new man.

Gizelle was later asked if she was planning on having a “hot girl summer.” She replied, “Has it started? Oh my gosh, yes!” she said with a laugh. “Gizelle’s out here, she’s dating, she’s doing her thing, she’s having fun. And you know, I really enjoy just being free, feeling free, and not having to think about compromising about anything.” As for her three daughters, Adore, Angel and Grace, they are completely fine with their parents no longer dating. Gizelle revealed they were too busy with virtual school to really care about the breakup. “Their only concern is just my happiness,” she added. “As long as mommy’s happy, they’re happy.”

Even though Gizelle and Jamal’s relationship didn’t work out, the pair will also have a close friendship. The Real Housewives of Potomac star and her former husband still raise their three daughters together, so the two will always be in each other’s lives. Maybe now that the COVID-19 cases are slowing down, Gizelle and Jamal could make their long-distance relationship one day.
