Since The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City aired, fans have been made aware of the strange relationship between Mary Cosby and her husband, Robert Cosby Sr. But after getting past the odd nature of the marriage between the housewife and her former step-grandfather, fans are also curious to know just who this man is.

After the bios for the women of the series went public, fans were most interested in Mary’s background. She admitted she is currently married to her former step-grandfather, and the couple has one son together. This shocked fans and made them wonder how and why Mary would be in a relationship with someone she once referred to as grandfather. It may be a difficult concept to wrap our brains around, but Mary and Robert have been going strong for over 20 years.

So, who is Robert Cosby Sr.? According to Celebpie, Robert is mostly known for being the husband of Mary, but he is also an entrepreneur and a pastor. He was born between the years 1950-1955, making him around 65-70 years old. He primarily looks after the family business, which is their empire of churches and restaurants. Robert has become very successful as a businessman, and now has an estimated net worth of $20 million. After his first wife,  Rosemary “Mama” Cosby, passed away, her dying wish was to have Robert marry one of her grandchildren so they could take care of him and keep the empire in the family. She chose Mary to be his wife, and the two were married shortly after. Twenty years of marriage later, Mary and Robert have no regrets regarding their union. They welcomed their 17-year-old son, Robert Cosby Jr., together and have managed to keep the family business afloat and successful, although the marriage did create some tension within the family.

Mary’s aunt, Rosalind Cazares, filed a lawsuit in 1997 and another one in 2007 accusing Cosby Sr. of mishandling the estate’s assets and conspiring to take away her share of her mother’s fortune, reports Bustle. The Salt Lake Tribune reported Robert and Mary failed to identify and account for all the personal property that was given away, sold, or destroyed by Robert while he was in charge of his ex-wife’s estate. They awarded the estate $1.2 million and Robert, as well as his business manager at Rosemary’s Faith Temple Pentecostal Church, was ordered to give the money to Rosalind to make up for her losses.
