RHOSLC: Why Fans Think Whitney Rose Forces Storylines

After watching The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Whitney Rose orchestrate the latest showdown, fans are blasting her self-produced storylines. Whitney helped to set things off during the latest gathering by confronting Meredith Marks with speculation about her involvement with Jen Shah’s arrest. With Whitney instigating arguments that had nothing to do with her, viewers believe she’s searching for an onscreen moment at the expense of her co-stars’ actual drama. While Whitney has had tiny tiffs with Mary Cosby and Lisa Barlow, her feuds aren’t producing the dramatic shouting matches that viewers are drawn to.

The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 1 saw Whitney supporting her father during his sobriety journey. She filled viewers in on all of the drama that surrounded her marriage to her former boss turned husband, Justin Rose. Since RHOSLC‘s Whitney and Justin fell in love while they were both married to other people, their marriage led to them being excommunicated from the Mormon church. As interesting as that is, it’s not enough to keep viewers invested in the happy life that they share today. Whitney has drummed up quarrels with Lisa and Mary. However, she made peace with Lisa and Mary, who choose to ignore “Little Girl” Whitney.

Now, viewers are starting to take notice of the seemingly drastic measures that Whitney takes to keep herself involved in the drama. During the latest episode, Meredith stormed off from dinner after getting verbally attacked in an argument instigated by Whitney. After taking notice of Whitney’s RHOSLC antics over the last two seasons, Reddit user u/sophistirachet asked, “What is wrong with Whitney?” The viewer has been catching up on the last two seasons and likened Whitney to “an 8th grader.” “She’s constantly seeking a moment and trying to “make fetch” happen in her conflict with Mary,” they quipped. “She also fails to focus on her business or just develop a life outside of seeking approval.” Considering Whitney’s season 2 storyline, she first took aim at Lisa for not being her friend.

During their sit-down, Whitney admitted to wanting Lisa to like her because of how much she likes Lisa. When it came to Whitney’s issue with Mary, Whitney from RHOSLC engaged with Mary over the church cult allegations. However, Mary denied the claims, and there wasn’t much else to reach for. Whitney’s pandering resulted in Mary snubbing her when she gave each of the ladies designer gifts. Now, Whitney is trying to push a narrative that Meredith possibly ratted out Mary, and viewers aren’t feeling it. The consensus is that the “Meredith ratted out Jen” storyline is just stupid and exhausting to watch. Some RHOSLC fans believe that Whitney is creating drama that is just too contrived.

Most fans feel that Whitney has been studying other Real Housewives franchises and then trying to produce similar storylines, but they believe she’s missing the target. However, Whitney’s strategy might be working, despite the criticism. She’s found a way to keep her name in the mix and involve herself in notable show moments. With two housewives being removed in The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 3, producers need Whitney around to keep stirring the pot. Maybe Whitney will have an interesting story to share in season 3. She’ll probably make sure that she does.
