A new piece of Loki concept art shows Richard E. Grant’s Classic Loki in muscle suit reminiscent of the character’s comic book look. Classic Loki only appeared briefly in season 1 of the Disney+ MCU series, but he quickly became a fan favorite. And though the character appears to sacrifice himself in season 1’s penultimate episode to help Loki and Sylvie enchant Alioth, the odds are good that he could still return in Loki season 2.

Just like the early versions of the comic book character, Classic Loki relies more on his magical prowess than any sort of superior physical strength or dexterity. In the show, he displays a staggering level of power by conjuring a full-scale illusion of Asgard itself – an act that appears to drain him almost completely. However, Grant has said that he was still disappointed to learn that his Loki wouldn’t have a padded muscle suit like so many other MCU characters. The star claimed that the early art he was shown included such a padded suit, leading to confusion when his actual costume had no such augmentations.

Now, a newly revealed piece of Classic Loki art has been revealed by Grant himself, showing the character in the much-discussed muscle suit. The actor took to Twitter to share the concept art, which depicts Classic Loki in slightly more filled-out outfit alongside fellow fan-favorite character, Alligator Loki. It’s a good look, though actually not so different at all from how Classic Loki ended up looking in the show. Check out the Classic Loki concept art below:

Some Loki fans, including Grant himself, have half-jokingly, half-seriously been pushing for a spinoff show starring Classic Loki and Alligator Loki. The two characters are definitely some of the show’s odder additions to the MCU, though now that Sylvie restored the multiverse by killing He Who Remains, they’ll likely be far from the strangest characters to come. Still, the idea of watching Classic Loki and Alligator Loki traveling through realities together is certainly a compelling pitch.

Spinoff or no spinoff, there’s a good chance both Loki variants will return in Loki season 2. The multiverse’s return could mean new versions of Classic Loki, also played by Grant. Some fans have even theorized that the Classic Loki devoured by Alioth was nothing more than an illusion, and that the real Classic Loki was orchestrating the whole thing from a distance. Maybe if Grant returns in Loki season 2, Marvel Studios will let him wear the muscle suit.
