Rick has spouted a few nonsensical catchphrases since Rick And Morty began, including “And that’s the way the news goes,” but the most famous is undoubtedly “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub!” He first says this in season 1 and it pops up now and again, though it’s used less frequently in later seasons. While it appears to be a meaningless catchphrase, Birdperson later explained to Morty that in his language it actually translates to “I am in great pain, please help me.”

The folks at Google must be big fans of Rick And Morty, as typing “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub” into their search engine results in “Did You Mean: i am in great pain please help me.” While Rick And Morty is mainly a comedy, the series isn’t afraid to dig into the messy psyches of its heroes either. Rick might be the smartest man alive but he’s a total wreck of a human being, and his genius is as much of a curse as it is a gift. Given that his wacky catchphrase is a secret cry for help only confirms this.

Rick And Morty has also explored the traumatizing effects of their adventures on Morty since he’s grown darker and less naive with each season. “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub” isn’t the only Google-related Rick And Morty easter egg either; asking Google Assistant “Wubba Lubba Dub Dub?” will result in the answer “Sorry, I don’t speak Birdperson.”
