Rodney Mathews Hopes To Find Love On A Bachelor Spinoff

Rodney Mathews, featured on The Bachelorette season 18, shared what he is looking for in a future wife and that he’s open to finding love still on a Bachelor Nation spinoff. As fan favorite on Michelle Young’s season, Rodney has not only become a reality star within the franchise but is also well-known for previously having a successful football career. While many contestants leave the series with unresolved drama and plenty of scandalous moments on-air, Rodney has supported Michelle and been a prime example of a mature, genuine contestant in Bachelor Nation.

Making it seven weeks into The Bachelorette, Rodney endeared himself to audiences (and Michelle) with his warm presence and light-hearted approach to the series. While Rodney didn’t get engaged to Michelle, fans will remember his humorous approach to winning roses, such as dressing up as a red apple to impress Michelle, a teacher, on night one. Although he didn’t end up with Michelle, Rodney is hopeful that he’ll find the woman of his dreams.

When asked about his goals regarding love and possibly returning to the franchise with Us Weekly, Rodney shared that he is still open to being on Bachelor In Paradise or finding love when he appears on the Bachelor Live On Stage tour, “I’m always open to [love].” He added, “I’m really hoping to find it. I think have a weird feeling, I feel like this is my year. I’m going to speak it into existence, manifest it. We’ll see, maybe it is on tour.”

After learning what he really wants while competing on The Bachelorette, Rodney now has a clearer picture of what he wants in the future and the standards he has for finding a wife. He told the outlet that he’s looking for a life partner that has “a kind heart, a kind soul, and… a sense of humor.” Rodney hopes to find someone who can match his energy, helping to bring “good energy and good vibes” to a marriage. “Open to love,” both on and off of the series, Rodney hopes that he is close to finding a woman that can meet his important criteria. While Rodney has a clear view of what he wants in a wife, he also hopes for a marriage built around reciprocation and shared affection, the reality star stating that he hopes to be a dependable husband, someone who is there to “vent” to and go through life’s hardships with.

Last seen on the series in 2021, Rodney appears to be off to a good start this year in 2022, looking to find the love that he wants (and deserves) after leaving the series without an engagement. Unphased by fame and taking a great deal of time to focus on his own personal goals, Rodney has made the most of this time post-Bachelorette. With rumors of Rodney returning to the franchise to find romance, Bachelor Nation may get a second chance to see the former Bachelorette contestant pursue love and attempt to find his ideal woman.
