Rosario Dawson, who played Claire Temple on Daredevil, has joined the movement to save the show. Dawson first appeared on the Netflix series in season 1. Her character is based on Claire and Night Nurse, two well-known characters from Marvel Comics. Dawson ultimately appeared in all three of Netflix’s other Marvel shows: Jessica JonesLuke Cage, and Iron Fist. In fact, Claire wound up playing a more prominent role in Luke Cage than even Daredevil, showing up in eleven episodes total. Dawson also joined many others in The Defenders miniseries, appearing in six out of eight episodes.

Unfortunately, Netflix parted ways with Marvel after only a few years. As parent company Disney began readying its competing streaming service Disney+, Netflix cancelled Daredevil in November 2018. The terms of the deal between Marvel and Netflix stated the former would be unable to use the show’s characters for two years. As a result, the rights reverted back to Marvel this past weekend, theoretically freeing the studio up to revive Daredevil on Disney+ or Hulu. This news has reignited the fight to save Daredevil, with some of the show’s cast and members of the Marvel family joining the fight.

Now, Dawson has shown her support for the Save Daredevil movement in a pair of tweets. The actor first responded to a post by co-star Deborah Ann Woll, using the #SaveDaredevil hashtag in her reply. Dawson then retweeted a message from another colleague, Vincent D’Onofrio, who shared a tweet from a Twitter account associated with the Save Daredevil campaign. Check out both tweets below:

Though many have posted about saving Daredevil in the past couple of days, Dawson joining the movement is noteworthy. For one, she’s a very prominent actor right now, thanks to her recent appearance as Ahsoka Tano on The Mandalorian. Because of that, she maintains a connection to Disney and, by extension, Marvel. It’s hard to know at this time if Dawson’s individual presence will make a difference, but a big name joining the call to save Daredevil certainly doesn’t hurt.

Of course, even if Marvel does use the Daredevil characters again in the near future, it’s possible they’ll be recast rather than revived in Daredevil season 4. Thanks to Netflix’s rather brutal cancellation of The Defenders shows, it’s possible the studio will want to start fresh. However, the Save Daredevil campaign shows the series’ dedicated fanbase remains and would follow the show to a new streaming service, provided that’s what Marvel decides.
