Tenoch Huerta’s latest social media post fuels rumors that he has been cast as MCU’s Namor. As production for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever began, reports started to circulate that the actor has landed the role of Namor the Submariner in the franchise. No official word yet from Marvel Studios at this point, but a brand new image is further convincing the public that this is actually the case.

Announced during San Diego Comic-Con 2019, director Ryan Coogler returns to helm the sequel after the critically-acclaimed original Black Pather film in 2018. Plot specifics for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever are still tightly under wraps, but its original narrative was reworked after the untimely death of its lead star Chadwick Boseman with the idea that it will honor his legacy. The rest of the cast from the first blockbuster is all confirmed to reprise their respective roles such as Dani Gurira (Okoye), Letitia Wright (Shuri), Angela Bassett (Ramonda), and Martin Freeman (Everett Ross). But as part of the MCU sub-franchise’s expansion, it will also expectedly introduce new characters in the movie, and one of them is supposedly Namor.

The aquatic anti-hero is reportedly going to be played by Huerta, who now fuels fan speculations with his latest Instagram posting. The actor shares an image of Benito Juarez’s sculpture in San Juan, Puerto Rico. According to production reports, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is currently filming in the same location. It’s currently uncertain what scenes Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is filming in Puerto Rico, but rumor has it that they’re for flashbacks. Assuming that it’s the case, however, it’s safe to say that it’s related to Namor and the reported Wakanda vs Atlantis war that will supposedly be in the sequel. It’s worth noting that Avengers: Endgame hinted that there’s a conflict between their people, and it sounded like it’s been going on for years. It’s possible that the tension finally culminates, resulting in a full-blown battle. It’s also worth noting that several set images have supported the claims that Namor and MCU’s Atlantis will debut in Coogler’s upcoming Marvel Studios project, further convincing fans that there’s merit to this hearsay.

Aside from Namor, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will also see the introduction of Riri Williams aka. Ironheart. Played by Dominique Thorne, the actress is set to star in her own Disney+ series as she essentially becomes Iron Man’s successor in the MCU. Before that, her entry point into the bigger MCU will be through the Wakandans. Set images have hinted that she will share scenes with both Okoye and Shuri, although it’s uncertain if fans will see her suit up in the film. If this pans out, it means that the sequel will debut two important players in the MCU moving forward.
