There have been rumors that OnePlus is planning to launch a OnePlus 10 Ultra phone that will take on Samsung’s Galaxy S22 Ultra flagship, but a recent report has revealed that the phone will not arrive until later in 2022. After first launching in China in early January, the OnePlus 10 Pro is scheduled to get a global launch very soon.

OnePlus has made changes to its product lineup as well as its release schedule. In the past, its flagship phones received a global release before launching in China. It also used to announce not one but two phones — a standard model and a pro model. However, that changed in 2021 when it announced three phones — the OnePlus 9, the OnePlus 9 Pro, and the entry-level flagship OnePlus 9R that’s exclusive to China and India.

The company’s top model has always been the one with the “Pro” suffix, but that is expected to change this year when it announces the OnePlus 10 Ultra. The info about an Ultra model first surfaced a few weeks after the OnePlus 10 Pro was announced in China, and now the same source is back with more details. In a Tweet, leaker Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh) said that the OnePlus 10 Ultra will be announced towards the end of the third quarter of 2022. This means it should be unveiled sometime in September.

New Nord Smartphones As Well

Back in January 2022, it was revealed that the OnePlus 10 Ultra is already in the EVT (Engineering Validation Phase) which is an early product development period where different prototypes are experimented with, some of which are functional. However, at this stage, the design is yet to be finalized. The specifications of the OnePlus 10 Ultra are largely unknown but it has been reported that it may come with Oppo’s MariSilicon X imaging NPU. It also would be fair to assume that it will come with the iterative upgrade to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, which is expected to be made by TSMC and launched as the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus.

Apart from the OnePlus 10 Ultra, the source also mentioned a handful of other OnePlus phones scheduled for launch in 2022. Following the arrival of the OnePlus 10 Pro in March, the OnePlus Nord CE 2 Lite is scheduled to follow in April. The Nord 2 is also reported to be getting a T-variant in late April or early May 2022. OnePlus will also announce the OnePlus 10R, the successor to the OnePlus 9R entry-level flagship, in May 2022, while the OnePlus Nord 3 will be announced in July.

Surprisingly, the standard OnePlus 10 isn’t included in the leaked product roadmap, nor is there any mention of the company’s rumored tablet. Of course, these dates should not be taken as absolute, since manufacturers like OnePlus can sometimes alter release dates for a variety of reasons.
