Many RuPaul’s Drag Race fans consider the Snatch Game their favorite episode/maxi challenge to look forward to on a season. Thankfully, the All Stars spin-off has given us plenty of new iconic impersonations to talk about, but not everyone is able to pull off a good performance in the challenge.

Five seasons later, the caliber of talent on All Stars is certainly undeniable, but there is still something about Snatch Game that prompts even the funniest and most well-prepared contestants to trip and fall. Let’s take a look back at some of the very best and very worst impersonations on the Snatch Game.

10 BEST: Trinity The Tuck’s Caitlyn Jenner (All Stars 4)

As a self-proclaimed “pageant queen,” Trinity The Tuck wanted to prove that she was more than her years of experience in pageants and incredible looks. Throughout All Stars 4, Trinity proved time and time again just how funny she is, and the Snatch Game was certainly another turning point for the queen.

Trinity The Tuck’s uncanny and fully-realized impersonation of Caitlyn Jenner went down in RuPaul’s Drag Race history, with little nuances like knee slaps and body language making it clear that Trinity had really brought her A-game to All Stars 4.

9 MISSED THE MARK: Roxxxy Andrew’s Alaska (All Stars 2)

It seemed like a great choice for Roxxxy Andrews to impersonate Alaska on the All Stars 2 Snatch Game. Not only is Alaska a very funny character, but Roxxxy also assumedly knew her RuPaul’s Drag Race season 5 sister very well.

Unfortunately, Roxxxy Andrew’s Snatch Game impersonation of Alaska really bombed on All Stars 2. In addition, it all felt even more awkward when one considered that Alaska was sitting right there in the room, and was killing it at the Snatch Game.

8 BEST: BenDeLaCreme’s Paul Lynde (All Stars 3)

BenDeLaCreme was the first All Stars contestant to impersonate a male-presenting character for the Snatch Game. This had previously been successful with Kennedy Davenport’s Little Richard on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 7, but it was certainly not a safe choice to go that route.

Thankfully, Ben’s Paul Lynde impersonation was a history-making performance that fans will probably never forget. As one of the winners of that maxi challenge, BenDeLaCreme became the first and only contestant to win the Snatch Game on both seasons that she competed on (season 6 and All Stars 3).

7 MISSED THE MARK: Gia Gunn’s Jenny Bui (All Stars 4)

It’s never easy for RuPaul’s Drag Race contestants to pull off impersonations of celebrities who come from “internet fame.” For some reason, being funny on social media doesn’t usually translate well on the Snatch Game, and Gia Gunn’s performance as Jenny Bui on All Stars 4 was yet another example of that.

Jenny Bui became famous for being Cardi B’s nail artist, and as a digital influencer, she is pretty funny in her own right. However, for the Snatch Game, Gia Gunn wasn’t able to accurately channel what made Jenny so authentically funny online.

6 BEST: Katya’s Bjork (All Stars 2)

Even viewers who didn’t necessarily know Bjork were absolutely fascinated by Katya’s impersonation of the Swedish popstar in the All Stars 2 Snatch Game. Katya pulled off a quirky and larger-than-life Bjork, celebrating the singer’s peculiar personality without simply poking fun at her for cheap laughs.

Given how strong the Snatch Game on All Stars 2 was, it is certainly a testament to Katya that she pulled off such a strong performance. Even five seasons later, Katya’s Bjork is still one of the strongest impersonations that fans have ever seen on the spin-off.

5 MISSED THE MARK: Chi Chi DeVayne’s Maya Angelou (All Stars 3)

It seemed like a pretty safe choice for the always lovable Chi Chi DeVayne to impersonate someone like Maya Angelou on the All Stars 3 Snatch Game, given that the queen isn’t a comedian and didn’t want to play anyone who would require too many one-liners and fast quips.

With that said, the Snatch Game is all about being fast on your feet and delivering hilarious soundbites, which made Chi Chi DeVayne’s Maya Angelou seem completely off-beat from the other performances in the room. Moreover, it doesn’t help that Chi Chi misspelled Maya Angelou’s name and didn’t catch some of the references that RuPaul made.

4 BEST: Shea Coulee’s Flavor Flav (All Stars 5)

The All Stars 5 Snatch Game was a pretty strong one, and that is largely in part to Shea Coulee’s impersonation as Flavor Flav. Impersonating a male-presenting celebrity on Snatch Game is always a risk, but Shea pulled off the campiness that is required to turn a person into a fully-realized drag character. With an incredible transformation and so many zingers and one-liners, Shea Coulee’s Snatch Game performance is definitely one for the books.

Moreover, when talking about the Snatch Game on All Stars 5, one would be remiss to not mention Jujubee’s Eartha Kitt and Alexis Mateo’s Walter Mercado – both of which were also stellar performances.

3 MISSED THE MARK: Trixie Mattel’s RuPaul (All Stars 3)

Despite the various warning signs that impersonating RuPaul on the Snatch Game was a tricky choice, Trixie Mattel approached it with plenty of confidence on All Stars 3. By the queen’s second joke in the challenge, it became pretty evident that the nerves got the best of her, and that viewers were witnessing Trixie Mattel bombing on TV.

Trixie has stated that she considers the All Stars 3 Snatch Game one of the worst days of her life. Not only did she bomb as a comedian, but it was also awkward to do so while impersonating the host of RuPaul’s Drag Race.

2 BEST: Alaska’s Mae West (All Stars 2)

Alaska’s Mae West is one of the most highly-regarded Snatch Game impersonations in RuPaul’s Drag Race history. When thinking about this maxi challenge on All Stars, one is hard-pressed to think of a stronger Snatch Game performance than Alaska’s on All Stars 2.

Not only was Alaska’s Snatch Game impersonation hilarious, but it was also educational – introducing Mae West to young viewers that were probably not familiar with her. For all of those reasons, Alaska won that maxi challenge (along with Katya’s Bjork) and entered the Drag Race history books.

1 MISSED THE MARK: India Ferrah’s Jeffree Star (All Stars 5)

India Ferrah played the Snatch Game for the first time ever on All Stars 5, given that she did not make it to that maxi challenge on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 3. And as expected, Snatch Game was really hard for India, as it is for all the contestants.

Even looking past the fact that India Ferrah’s choice to impersonate Jeffree Star was bad considering the makeup mogul’s decade-long history of being problematic, there was also objectively not a lot of Jeffree’s character in the performance. All in all, India’s Snatch Game stint will go down in history for the wrong reasons.
