A lot of celebrities and social media influencers have come out in support of Gottmik following his historic casting on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13. It’s been a long time coming for a trans man to get cast on Drag Race, but we’re finally seeing it happen. As pointed out in the hit Netflix documentary Disclosure, trans visibility in the media is still something that needs to be fought for. But while some doors have been opening for trans women in recent years with shows like Pose, Euphoria, Sense8, Orange Is The New Black, and Transparent – to name a few -, visibility for trans men is unfortunately still trailing behind.
For years now, the fans had been called for an Emmy-winning mainstream series like Drag Race to feature more openly trans contestants. There are many examples of trans women who have competed on the show in the past, such as Peppermint, Jiggly Caliente, Sonique, Monica Beverly Hillz, Carmen Carrera, and Gia Gunn. But most of those contestants only came out to the public after they were already in the werkroom, or even after their season was over. Now, Gottmik is changing the game on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13 by being the first trans man to compete on the show.
A lot of celebrities and social media stars are rooting for Gottmik after he was announced as a contestant on RuPaul’s Drag Race season 13. As seen below, popstar Allie X and Pose producer Our Lady J took to their Instagram Stories to show support for Gottmik. So did photographer Brandon Lundby and MAC Cosmetics Global Creative Director Drew Elliott. Also seen below are posts from social media stars Gigi Gorgeous and James Charles, who happen to be two of Gottmik’s closest friends. On Gottmik’s original Instagram post about getting cast on season 13, one will also find comments from many other celebrities like Brazilian popstar Pabllo Vittar, makeup guru Patrick Starrr, songwriter Justin Tranter, Olympian Adam Rippon, performance artist Amanda Lepore, among others.

Last but certainly not least, Gottmik’s Drag Race season 13 announcement post also got comments from every single major drag performer that previously competed on the show. To name a few, Gottmik got congratulated by Bianca Del Rio, Raja, Bob The Drag Queen, Sasha Velour, Violet Chachki, Shangela, Detox, Gigi Goode, Latrice Royale, Crystal Methyd, Brooke Lynn Hytes, Pearl, Sonique, Plastique Tiara, Miss Fame, Ongina, Kimora Blac, Jade Jolie, Jiggly Caliente, Mayhem Miller, Alexis Michelle, Soju, Jessica Wild, Ilona Verley, Scarlet Envy, April Carrión, and Tynomi Banks, but the list goes on.
