On every season of RuPaul’s Drag Race, the Snatch Game never fails to be a highlight. Contestants embrace the personas of actresses, politicians, and historic figures, all with a hilarious drag queen twist. Season 13’s challenge boasted many memorable moments, including winner Gottmik’s perfectly blasé Paris Hilton and Denali’s spot-on Jonathan Van Ness from Queer Eye. However, one queen’s character was such a hit with fans, she brought it from the Main Stage to the streets of New York City. Rosé recently shared on Instagram Mary Queen of Scots’ journey through the Big Apple to become a modern-day celebrity.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

Rosé chose to portray the beheaded queen as an ode to her Scottish heritage. Though Mary I of Scotland isn’t quite as relevant as Paris or Jonathan (she died in 1587), Rosé catapulted the royal figure into the 21st century. Donning a rich, red gown, ruffled collar that stretched to her neck, and chalk-white foundation, Rosé certainly looked the part. But she definitely didn’t sound it.  The Drag Race version of Mary was crude, made self-deprecating jokes about her beheading, and had such a thick Scottish/Irish accent, you couldn’t help but laugh at it. As the other “stars” took turns answering questions, Mary could be spotted in the background taking selfies with Paris.

After the episode aired, Rosé asked her Instagram following if they wanted more Mary content. It was an overarching “yes.” She recently shared a video portrait on Instagram, directed by Austin Nunes, that chronicles Mary’s adventure through present-day New York City. She’s there with one mission in mind – to become a star. “I think the biggest difference between now and before I was dead is that now I’ve got a head. When I died, my head was chopped off,” she explains. “So I said, you know what? I should f*cking do what I’ve always wanted to do.” Mary recruits Janice (Rosé’s fellow Stephanie’s Child member Jan) as her vocal coach, learns about OnlyFans and Tik Tok, and sports a popular trend: “I went to the bathroom and I was schooled on Tik Tok while I was taking a sh*t, and Ijust saw there’s a new trend where the girls all say you look old if you’ve not got a middle part…I’m not trying to look old!” See the full video below:

Following the video portrait’s premiere, Rosé took to her Instagram Story to clap back at haters who said her interpretation wasn’t historically accurate. She said, “I did soo much research on MQoS! I am well aware she spoke with a French accent. I’m also aware that being miserable is a choice! So can y’all little historians please take a deep breath, crack open a 4loko and try smiling today.” Rosé put a lot of time and effort into making a fun video and then spent hours trying to upload it because of a bad internet connection. Her response is understandable. See the post below:

The video portrait is outrageous and stupidly funny and showcases Rosé’s versatility as a triple threat drag star. She has acting chops, can command the stage as a dancer, and has some of the strongest vocals to ever grace Drag Race. Rosé has appeared on America’s Got Talent with Stephanie’s Child and now seems to be embarking on a solo music career. Earlier this year, she released a cover of Miley Cyrus’s “Gimme What I Want,” which has garnered 146,000 views. We can’t wait to see what Rosé (and Mary) do next.
