In yet another show of his trademark witticisms, Ryan Reynolds has told his The Adam Project co-star Mark Ruffalo that the sequel to 13 Going On 30would be a horror movie. Released in 2004, the romantic comedy stars Ruffalo and Jennifer Garner as the 13-year-old Jenna Rink, who in 1987 wishes to be 30 and finds herself waking up exactly that age overnight. With no memory of the past 17 years, she reignites a relationship with her childhood best friend and next-door neighbor, Matty (Ruffalo), and the two grown-up characters fall in love.

More recently, Ruffalo and Garner reunited on screen for yet another round of time travel, in the Netflix science-fiction film The Adam Project. In the film, the duo plays the parents to a younger version of Reynolds’ character Adam, who has travelled back in time using technology developed by his father. Also starring Guardians of the Galaxy’s Zoe Saldaña as the older Adam’s wife, the sci-fi comedy was directed by Reynolds’ former collaborator on Free Guy, Shawn Levy, who has also been tapped to helm the actor’s highly-anticipated official MCU debut in Deadpool 3.

With The Adam Project only just recently released, Ruffalo celebrated by taking to Twitter and sharing a behind-the-scenes look at the three stars recreating a 13 Going On 30 image, with Reynolds looking on. Ruffalo jokingly captioned the clip “Jenna + Matty = our darling son.” Not one to miss a beat, Reynolds’ sharp tongue was quick to respond by claiming the “sequel to 13 Going On 30 is a horror film.” Check out the original exchange below:

Of course, this is hardly the first time that Reynolds has poked fun at his co-stars, and it is most certainly not going to be the last. Now that Deadpool 3 has found its director and is moving forward to see the character join the MCU proper, there is every chance Reynolds’ Wade Wilson/Deadpool could cross paths with Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk in the future. Also no stranger to playing Marvel characters, having previously portrayed Elektra in both the Ben Affleck-led Daredevil and her own solo film, perhaps the Reynolds and Levy can also find a way to work Garner into the Deadpool threequel, as well.

There will certainly be some time for the creative team to work out their plans, as Levy has previously confirmed that Deadpool 3 will not be filming any time this year. But whether they cross paths on screen in the future again, reuniting Ruffalo and Garner on the set of The Adam Project seems to have been a fun and nostalgic walk down memory lane for both actors. Whatever future their characters from 13 Going on 30 had envisioned, however, having Reynolds as the product of their love for one another would certainly have been the farthest thing from their minds.
