Ryan Reynolds has some fun as his Red Notice character Nolan Booth while appearing on the beloved PBS series Antiques Roadshow. The Rawson Marshall Thurber-directed movie Red Notice only just arrived on Netflix last weekend, but it’s already winning over audiences in a major way. Red Notice didn’t impress in its limited theatrical debut the week before, but with just one Friday, it secured the biggest opening day in Netflix history. It currently stands at number 1 on Netflix’s Daily Top 10 list, and it could remain there for some time.

Red Notice has the benefit of having a starry trio at its center. The movie stars Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, and Gal Gadot and follows their characters in a cat-and-mouse game across the globe. Johnson’s John Hartley is an FBI profiler looking to catch Gadot’s notorious art thief the Bishop, which leads him to Reynolds’ Booth for help. Just as much of an thief as the Bishop is, Booth is looking to steal three artifacts known as Cleopatra’s Eggs, thus putting him on a collision course with the Bishop.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

The Eggs might’ve been hard to nab in Red Notice, but one is proudly on display in a new video from Netflix Film Club. In it, Reynolds slips into his Booth persona (which is very similar to his normal wise-cracking self) to get a feel for how much one Egg would fetch on Antiques Roadshow. He even sits down with Lark E. Mason to discuss it. Check out the silly video down below.

Reynolds has a knack for unique promotional efforts like this, many of which were on display for his previous movie, Free Guy. Not many people might’ve thought to combine Red Notice with Antiques Roadshow, but when one really considers it, it’s actually a perfectly hilarious pairing. It’s a clever bit of promotion for the Netflix movie, even if it doesn’t actually give any indication of what the movie is about. Reynolds’ presence alone will likely kickstart some interest in Red Notice from those who might not be familiar with it.

It’s still just a bit too early to tell for sure, but Red Notice is on track to be one of Netflix’s biggest original movies. It seems likely that it will receive a sequel, though the streamer hasn’t revealed much on that front. The Red Notice ending left the door wide open for a follow-up, and it seems like its stars enjoyed making it and would be eager to come back for more. If audiences want to see more of Reynolds, Johnson, and Gadot stealing some art, they should show their support for Red Notice by watching it on Netflix. Or by giving Reynolds’ Antiques Roadshow appearance a thumbs up.
